  • Interview with Chris Mullen

Our second episode of 2026 is an exciting one and it's been a long time in the making. Jessica and I interview Chris Mullen, one of the three FIA starters, the team who actually push the buttons to start the F1 races! In this episode, however, you'll learn about all the other things they're tasked with during a F1 race week and it's an enlightening peek behind the curtain of how the FIA operates during a weekend. Our sincerest thanks to Chris and the team at the FIA who helped us coordinate this exclusive opportunity.

Many marshals in the US who have worked Formula One and IndyCar events will know our guest in this episode. Jim Swintal is the radio communicator for IMSA, IndyCar and Formula One in the US. He has a storied background in motorsports and a very rich life outside of it as you will hear in this episode. He's a fascinating person and a lot of fun to talk to.

  • Meet the Marshals of the Las Vegas GP!

    Send us Fan Mail

In this episode, you'll hear from some of the marshals that worked the Las Vegas Grand Prix in 2025. We traveled about the Egyptian Ballroom asking marshals of just about every specialty to introduce themselves and tell us their story of how they got started and perhaps a favorite or funny memory from their marshaling history. What a tremendous response we got and, though the audio is a bit sketchy at times with all the goings on of 500 marshals in one room and the inevitable background noise, we hope that you'll be as fascinated as we were to meet them and hear their stories.

We're not quite done with 2025 as we will release one more episode before the new year!

Your feedback, as always, is most welcome. Grab us at an event or shoot us a message via the feedback tool on the episode's webpage.

In this episode, Jamey and Jessica visit with Adam Gavalla, the Chief of Scrutineering at FIA events in the US. He goes into what, exactly, the scrutineers do and talks about what it takes to become one.

We also recap our fall events thus far: Jessica talks about WEC, Jamey discusses the SCCA Runoffs at Road America and both recap their US Grand Prix.

Bonus: Our resident Vegas expert (Jessica) highlights a few of the places she enjoys in Vegas for marshals and others attending the LVGP (or any other time)!

Just in time for the F1 weekend at COTA, we sat down to interview Nadja Pollard and Toni Buhrke, the Chiefs of Pit, Paddock and Grid (PPG) for all the FIA events in the US to discuss what PPG is, what they look for when recruiting to their prized team and then they share stories about the craziness that can happen on pit lane.

This episode is a long one but well worth your time.

  • Interview with Max Fumagalli & John Bennie

    Send us Fan Mail

In this episode, we sit down with Max Fumagalli and John Bennie, two very experienced UK marshals who frequently come and share their talents with us here in the US. We discuss how marshaling programs in the UK are structured and it provides great perspective on how we do things in the states. It's lengthy but there's lots for marshals to digest and take from these great guys. We also hear how marshals in the UK can become Rescue workers as well.

It was a while ago we recorded this one so we're just now getting to our takes on F1 The Movie. You can enjoy those at the end.

As always, we enjoy hearing your feedback. Use the "send us a text" feature on the website to send us a message.

  • Interview with Sydney Davis Yagel

    Send us Fan Mail

In this episode, we sit down with Sydney Davis Yagel, one of the important people that make the motorsports events we all enjoy possible. You've probably seen her name--on an SCCA email to new members or the myriad of communications that go out prior to a major event--but Sydney is a perfect example of how far good work and initiative can go in the world of motorsports.

We always welcome feedback and ideas for future episodes of the podcast. If you've got news or thoughts that will affect motorsports marshals, use the voice memos app on your phone and send us a file for inclusion in a future episode.
