Waiting on God is a big theme throughout scripture and it's a challenging undertaking at times but it's vitally important for God-fearing people to learn. Sarah and Abraham failed as they waited for the child of promise to be brought into their lives. They became impatient and decided to take matters into their own hands. The story that bring Hagar and, eventually, Ishmael, onto the scene is a sad one but one that holds many important lessons for us.

The relationship between Abraham and Lot is a fascinating one. In Genesis 13 we get a glimpse at the challenges that existed between the two men and their herdsmen...but more importantly, we see how Abraham navigated that conflict and displayed a great deal leadership in an effort to preserve peace.

We're discussing in more detail the three main promises that God made to Abraham as recorded at the beginning of Genesis 12. If you only take one thing away from the discussion this week, let it be this: God keeps His promises! He kept the ones He made to Abraham and He'll keep the ones He makes to us as well.
