Trading Brains

We're back with another episode, and this time we are discussing the next generations of console gaming systems. The Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X.

Angelo and I are fans of both Sony and Microsoft. We spent much of our teenage years playing the Halo series on Xbox and Xbox 360. Before that we played Sly Cooper, Rachet & Clank on PS2.

So we aren't hard fan boys for either side. We discuss strengths and concerns we have about the up-and-coming consoles, hardware and features that may be enough to convince us to go to one side or the other. No matter which one you might pick (or both), we're excited for this next generation of gaming.

Those who have been with the show for a while will know that we are huge comic hero fans, and we've talked about Marvel and DC extensively in previous episodes. This episode is about the soon-to-be released video game, Marvel's Avengers. The plot is centered around Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan) who gathers the Avengers after superheroes were banned due to an 'accident' taking place in San Francisco. We talk gameplay, player modes, and characters. Enjoy!

We are excited about another video game scheduled for release this September. THQ Nordic is bringing an old hidden gem of a game, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning back as KoA Re-Reckoning. This game is a complete remaster, with improved graphics and modernized gameplay mechanics. Evan has good memories of buying this game for cheap (like $4) and really being immersed in the world's story and its characters. If you like lore-heavy RPGs, you're probably going to like this game.

We are very excited about a picturesque new Playstation exclusive game coming to the PS4 by Suckerpunch studios, the makers of top tier titles such as "Sly Cooper" and the "Infamous series". We talk about the context and story of the game, how the studio has emphasized the vastness and presentation of its open world game, and how the developers have paid homage to the samurai films that inspired this game in the first place.

Angelo and Evan talk about The Last of Us 2, a game recently released by Naughty Dog, the studio that brought you blockbuster titles like Crash Bandicoot and Uncharted. Evan talks about how unforgettable the story of The Last of Us was, and his hopes for how the sequel performs in terms of story, characters, and gameplay. The guys then discuss the similarities and differences of the pandemic situation in Last of Us that can be compared to most contemporary 'zombie' culture.

Hello friends! For this episode of the podcast, Evan and Angelo have brought on a guest, Ryan Singh -- a fellow gamer -- to talk about a recently released and highly anticipated game, FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE. Both Evan and Angelo are longstanding fans of the final fantasy series, and the original FFVII is one of the first FF games we played growing up, as I'm sure many of you have. We talk mostly about the story - changes from the original - and setting in this episode.

This week we talk about Vodka. An alcoholic beverage known for its origins in Poland and Russia, though other European nations have also ventured into distilling their own such as Sweden. We talk about the drink itself, the history behind it, its distillation and how it is typically consumed.

For most of us living today, the fear and devastation wrought by the new deadly coronavirus COVID-19 is a never-before experienced phenomenon. Evan and Angelo discuss their thoughts on the virus. International policy, individual actions, how to keep up with case numbers, what you can do to mitigate your risk of contraction or spreading of the virus, and what pharmaceutical tests are being done.

Coronavirus COVID-19 will be covered as a mini segment, as more and more developments come out in the months ahead.
