When asked about the importance of walking with God for a Christian, Author Israelmore Ayivor responded saying, “If you walk and talk with God, you will never miss the direction to your divine future. Be bold and offer your heart to be led by God.” Most Christians would agree with this statement. However, there is a looming question that sits in the in between that most Christians struggle with. That question is... how do I walk with God? To answer that question, I have in the studio with me today Ryan Mills. Ryan Mills has been with our ministry since its inception and is our forefront leader of our Tier 2 spiritual formation camps called Bootcamp Advanced. Bootcamp Advanced focus is on deeper heart healing, spiritual warfare, and most importantly listening prayer that gives you the foundation for walking with God. Just a few weeks ago Ryan led a talk on walking with God to prepare men who are getting ready to attend our upcoming Bootcamp Advanced in a few weeks. This is episode is a recap of the that basecamp session.

The human condition is predestined to experience suffering. We've seen the expression of suffering played out in many different ways throughout history. Some men and women have been able to receive grace, peace, and understanding in their suffering.  For others their suffering only caused more confusion and seemed to be at the fault of some higher power or at least it was an unexplainable lesson in futility. For the Christian, suffering comes with the territory, but it also comes with an invitation to relationship on a higher level, a more intimate level with Jesus Christ. That is not to say that most Christians continue to struggle with understanding their pain. However, the very few Christians who have consented to the process of becoming have gained access to intimacy with God, a call to use their suffering for the good of his Kingdom, and even deeper invitation to living a life dedicated to obedience. Today's episode is on this very topic of suffering with Steve Porter. Steve will dive deep into his experience with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and how he has come to love God more and find a deeper purpose for living.

John 10: 2-7 & 14-16

2But the one who enters through the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. 3The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep recognize his voice and come to him. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4After he has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow him because they know his voice. 5They won’t follow a stranger; they will run from him because they don’t know his voice.” 6Those who heard Jesus use this illustration didn’t understand what he meant, 7so he explained it to them: “I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep… 14 “I am the good shepherd; I know my own sheep, and they know me, 15just as my Father knows me and I know the Father. So, I sacrifice my life for the sheep. 16I have other sheep too, that are not in this sheepfold. I must bring them also. They will listen to my voice, and there will be one flock with one shepherd.

These opening podcast episodes are going to be an attempt to grasp the true larger story of God and more importantly get after the truth of who God is, what is gods story, who we are in the God who made us, and how we are called to live out our story as a part of the greater story of God. That last part is exactly what we’re after today. We are talking about how to live in accordance to God’s covenantal laws found in both the Old Testament and in the New Testament. In order for us to truly take a proper and successful journey of spiritual formation we must understand how we are called to live our lives obediently to our Lord and Savior. but there has been a lot of confusion regarding which of the 613 laws in the Old Testament that we should abide by versus the new covenant that Jesus Christ gave his people in fulfilling the old. Fortunately, I have with me today Dr. Daniel Diffey who will be able to help us navigate these rough waters. Dr. Diffey is currently an associate professor of Old Testament theology at Grand Canyon seminary. He received his bachelor’s degree in history and completed an M div in Christian ministry while also obtaining his PhD in Old Testament theology. A father of three and a husband to his wife Anne, Dr. Diffey would say that he has two great passions, his first greatest passion is the need for believers to be connected in the local church and be using that connection for the greater good of expanding God’s kingdom and his second great passion is that of helping people to understand and live out the message of the Bible.

GK Chesterton was quoted as saying that every generation loses the path to life and every generation is charged with his recovery. It is simply that recovery that this podcast and train to reign is all about. There are many Christians in this world that have great desires to do good for God and to be used by God to expand his kingdom. The problem is that most Christians in this world don’t fully consent to the process of heart restoration. This is probably the most critical mistake that anyone attempting to pursue a life with Christ could make. Because pursuing your own heart’s healing empowers you with the ability to be successful in the pursuit of reigning in your own kingdoms that God intended for you to have.
