Trainer Talk - The Podcast episodes

  • Podcast Ep94: 12 Feb 2021
In this episode we talk about what to do when life interrupts work - how do you deal with those big things that have an impact on everything else? Elsewhere Sharon's resigned about the Open and Ginette's got a long story (not so) short in the Dog-walking Digest.

This week Sharon's shocked to learn she may have a rival in her obsession and Ginette discovers a new skill (ish). We also talk about how to deal with 'Meh Mondays' - and any other 'meh' days for that matter. #TrainerTalk #FreelanceTrainer #TrainerTalkThePodcast #TheTrainersTrainingCompany #TheGetThatGang #SharonGaskin #GinetteTessier #TrainingBusiness #BusinessTrainer

This week in addition to embracing the full woo-woo, we're talking about how it's ok that no-one is universally liked (even National Treasure Boaty McBoat ... erm ... Sir David Attenborough) and why this is a good thing in business.

Ep 91: We're back! And we make no promises about how long each episode is going to be from now on - even though we've cut a lot of stuff out. You'll obviously be delighted to know that the Dog Walking Digest stays! So here we are again, chatting about business and life, with the occasional nugget and rant (sometimes the same thing) thrown in for good measure. Oh and you can see us on YouTube now as well ...

Decluttering: it's the final episode before Sharon and Ginette definitely don't take August off, but do have a little break from recording the podcast - and in Sharon's case speaking to people! So of course why wouldn't we discuss right angles, ballet certificates, orange coffee tables and what to do if you're ever in a hostage situation and you need to choose which fingers to keep ... It's really not as random as it sounds (OK, maybe that last one is), as we cover how to be ruthless when it comes to decluttering, how to do it so no-one else in the household notices (especially if they're a hoarder) and how to get rid of all the stuff that needs to go (you can't have a maybe pile either). It's a pity physical stuff doesn't have a delete button! In other news, Jem's claimed the new sofa, Scamp really isn't a fan of the wet stuff and in leave-it-til-the-last-minute breaking news: the portaloo has GONE! It's enough to make you feel coooo-oool ...

Outsourcing: this week we get back into the groove with an in-depth discussion on all things delegation - the what and how especially, using Sharon's great and not so great experiences! And as much fun as that was, we also found time to cover terrible radio stations, lost mojo, tech trouble, skip rummaging and limping into August. You'd be forgiven for thinking that was quite enough, but when we're on a roll ... So in addition you get wild horses, scary sheep, a fat old lady (subject to verification), revelations, a dog's breakfast, bright red faces and overestimation. Plus a plodding Jem who doesn't approve of too much hilarity and an extra-sniffing-Scamp whose catch phrase is clearly 'you never know'.

Brand Building with Sammy Blindell: this week's episode is notable for being lucky, untouchable and sent to you with love and kisses. It's also our shortest for a long while, but don't let that make you think it isn't just as packed with useful stuff (and the usual less useful stuff ...). We're a bit discombobulated what with one thing and another, but luckily our guest shows up to talk us through her extraordinary story of how she became the Brand Builder, what 'one-drops' have got to do with anything and the law of brand attraction. It's a tale that takes in curiosity (or is that nosiness?), floating mansions, brandalism and ripples. And if you think that's eclectic, elsewhere we also cover fluffy bunnies, not feeling like tea and why it's important to let people know what you want them to do. Yep, all in an hour. You're welcome.

Letting Go: this week Sharon's playing with Transformers, breaking the rules and going to the bathroom ... centre, mainly without using a hairbrush as a hat, although it's a close-run thing. Ginette's feeling all-growed-up, smug about her spaces and happy Bournemouth Trainer Talk Local (virtual) went well, even if everyone did have to bring their own cake. In Top of Mind, we discuss how not all clients or suppliers are created equal and discuss what we can do about it. Unsurprisingly, part of the answer is to Trust the Process (she really should TM that ...). In other news, Jem's in danger of being stuck to the floor, Scamp's owner has got to 'that' age, we look forward to a new Leader in Bristol and discuss how giving learners choice will elevate your online course quality.

Clarity: you could describe this episode as either woo-woo or wee-wee, but you'll have to listen to get the full story there and avoid the 'sinking' feeling of missing out ... In other news we agree that being helpful in business is good as long as you're being paid for it, how too much choice isn't helpful at all and we debate how much help is needed to understand the current lockdown restrictions in England. Sharon also has an outdoor cushion crisis, Ginette forms a bubble, Jem thinks she's Queen of Sheba and Scamp is sniffing everything. Twice. As we don't mention it enough, we talk about the importance of niching to give people clarity over what you do, why it's still BYOC (bring your own cake) at the Trainer Talk Locals and how to add credibility to your online courses.

  • Podcast Ep85: June 26 2020
Lockdown Learnings: this week we get all philosophical and discuss how a triangle can also be a square, what normal people do and the art of applying nail polish. Ginette discusses first world problems while also losing her words and Sharon is getting a new-found loathing for dust. Our Top of Mind Topic is a reflection on what we've learnt during lockdown as the restrictions start to be eased (except in Hardcore Wales naturally). We talk about how people are amazing, resilient and surprised at what they now know they can do. In the Dog-walking Digest, Jem's doing her best to get run over, Sharon's doing her best to stay dry (and failing), Scamp's dragging his heels and Ginette's dreaming of salt and vinegar on chips. There are plenty of Trainer Talk Locals to choose from in July even if you still have to bring your own cake and last but not least, we'd like to you to remember to sound human in your online course videos.
