Third day in. Still going to bed a little late. 11:15 my time, but trying to get the podcast studio setup in a way where these audio recordings aren't too sketchy. I've never done this before, but enjoying the process. I've got my training log started. I don't know how to share that exactly, but thinking maybe in a weekly format where week over week can show all the exercises I'm doing and how I'm approaching it.
Today was a pretty tough session. By tough I mean just kind of getting after it with a good mix of strength and cardio. I don't even know if cardio's the right word. I got fatigued a little bit. The trainer I'm working with, he's just trying to get feel for how much I can take before I started laboring a bit. It's fun. I haven't been in the gym for a while. Goes back to March-ish and I'm assuming like most everyone else, COVID-19 has changed the approach to what's allowed and what's preferred. Right now, with me, I know I enjoyed the heck out of my summer. I was able to get outside, and I'm still getting outside even in the cooler weather. Feeling pretty good. I'm tired in my glutes. I always think that's the "good sore". Looking forward to getting into the pool tomorrow morning and keeping at it. I think overall with the podcast I'll start small, give brief updates, but really do want to give more my backstory, my reason why, and be authentic.
The whole idea of Training for X is my thing right now is I'm training to dunk a basketball because that matters to me. That's a personal thing. And in the large scheme of things most people probably have no desire to dunk a basketball. But when you identify something that matters to you, and you want to get after it in a way that is sustainable and fun, training really really can go a long way.
Right now I'm searching for that trifecta of getting a good balance of coaches. Just direct feedback from people that are more experienced than me in this and have a vested interest. Right now I have a personal trainer for Monday, Wednesday, Friday. It's never easy writing the check, especially when you feel like you're fit and can do things yourself. But rarely am I disappointed in putting good money and time into coaches. I've found the more that you put in, and willing to listen and be a coachable athlete and trainable person, you get a lot back. And it's a lot of fun. I won't delve too deep into other stuff right now, but hopefully this is interesting to somebody. And, if not, it keeps me honest. It's a good daily training log and maybe I'll just have to summarize things in a week over week format to make it a bit easier. I'll be churning out some more content maybe in a few different formats where it's not all me just mumbling and bumbling. Hopefully the audio is improving here. If it's not, I'll continue with my little studio here. I've got my grandma's quilt on the wall trying to muffle some of the sound, or absorb it. I've got this ATUSB2020 mic. I've never really used a mic, but it's a process, and looking forward to it.
