Sam Walker (now a leadership columnist for the WSJ) studied success on elite teams and what he found is that elite teams had elite leaders, leaders who were willing to do the dirty work,
who were focused and persistent,
who were constantly coaching,
who were pushing the boundaries...

En total he identified 7 traits of elite leaders who drove sustained success over time in the world of sports.
