Were you raised to believe that having pride in yourself was somehow wrong? Perhaps you were taught that "prideful" people were conceited and that it was wrong to tell anyone about your accomplishments because that was "boasting" and boasting was most definitely wrong. How about respect? You were probably taught to respect your elders, but what about yourself? Today we're talking about all of this plus how it all ends up in a culture where "customer service" seems to be a thing of the past.
