As the world continues it's mad dash to destruction, Christians find it more difficult to live a Godly life. Jesus spoke of the difficult times ahead comparing the last days to the days of Noah and the days of Lot.Daniel spoke of the antichrist who would "wear out the saints". Many Christians feel "worn out" but what is really wearing on us is trying to live like the world.

As our youth return from camp and share their testimonies of how God met them there, we look for ways to fuel that fire and keep the Camp Fire burning.Those Summer Camp mountaintop experiences need to be cultivated and pursued all year long. James gives us very specific steps that we can take to draw near to God. Staying close to God is something that we can do right here in the valley, at home .

Being led by the Holy Spirit is the only way we can survive and even thrive in this chaotic time in history. The end times are filled with challenges for every Christian. The Book of Romans was written to believers living in chaotic times of the height of the Roman Empire. Paul's teachings are a handbook on Christian living in troubled times

What does it look like when the Holy Spirit is a work in our lives and in the lives of those around us? The Apostle Paul learned the hard way that lofty speech or wisdom gets in the way of the Holy Spirit's work. The Holy Spirit works in simplicity and does not require us to have lives of perfection before he can use us. He works through the uneducated as well as He works in those well educated. He will work in the lives of those that seek Him.

The Holy Spirit is the "Gift of the Father". Something that God the Father wants us have, a necessary, much needed and useful gift. Too often Christians neglect to open the precious gift that is offered to us. What are the benefits of the Holy Spirit and how does He help us in this life? Following our study of the Holy Spirit, we examine the events of The Day of Pentecost. The supernatural signs and the out pouring of the Holy Spirit and the accompanying gift of "speaking in other tongues" that were understood by people of many different languages. Speaking in tongues has many benefits for the church today.

Continuing our study on the Work of the Holy Spirit, we look at Romans chapter 7 & 8. Here Paul describes the flesh vs. Spirit battle that we all can relate too. We can will to do right but then do wrong anyway. Paul cries out "Who will deliver me from this body of death?" The only answer to that dilemma is to live a Spirit Filled Life and discover the "you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit."

We begin a series of messages on the Holy Spirit as we approach the Day of Pentecost. Jesus promised to send the "Helper" to be with us in his absence. In fact he said it was to our advantage that he (Jesus) go away so the "Helper" could come. Today we build a foundation of understanding as to who the Holy Spirit is according to the Holy Scriptures.

We had the privilege of having Dr. Harold and Winona Helms as pulpit guests this morning. He gave us "Words of Wisdom" from his many years of experience in ministry and marriage. The Helms' have been married for 66 years and they have been in active ministry all of that time. Dr. Helms has served as the President of the Foursquare Church and Dean of Mount Vernon Bible College and Pastor of Angeles Temple just to name a few of his credits.
