We are going to explore the topic of pain today through the lens and perspective of someone who was intimately familiar with pain. As a secondary component to our study we are going to look at prayer, and debunk what we think prayer is at the same time. 

Jabez was intimately familiar with pain. His life was connected to pain– painful experiences, painful treatment, his name meant pain and sorrow. He lived in a culture, time, and society where heavy weight was placed on the names of people.
