We are in the second part of this series, "Just The Essentials". Again, we explore how God often asks us for the essentials—faith, obedience, and movement—rather than grand gestures or an abundance of resources. Drawing from the story of Gideon in Judges 6, we see how God made Gideon tear down the idols that were being worshiped and exalted, PRIOR to getting to the reason he was called / the assignment he was given. 

Making room, and tearing down any and all forms of idolatry is essential to creating the capacity needed to fulfill the assignment God has given us. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you what you may not see. Ask Him to show the idols of your family. Ask Him for the articulation needed to identify them and tear them down. 

In this episode, we explore how God often asks us for the essentials—faith, obedience, and movement—rather than grand gestures or an abundance of resources. Drawing from the story of Gideon in Judges 6-8, we see how God used just 300 men to defeat the Midianites, confounding human logic and demonstrating that the battle is not won by our might but by His Spirit (Zechariah 4:6). Gideon’s story reminds us that God’s plans often differ from our own and that He uses unlikely people to accomplish great victories.

The central message is that God’s promises and victories are already secured, and our role is simply to trust and obey. When we try to stand in God’s light or take His glory, we miss the opportunity for Him to display His power fully. Through Gideon’s faith and obedience, we learn to step aside and let God shine, remembering that His strength is made perfect in our weakness.

Often times Believer's feel like they can't hear God's voice. Many feel like only certain people have the exclusivity of talking with God a lot or hearing His voice frequently. This is simply not true.

Jabez was intimately familiar with pain. His life was connected to pain– painful experiences, painful treatment, his name meant pain and sorrow. He lived in a culture, time, and society where heavy weight was placed on the names of people.
