Antioch in Pisidia (Pt 2) | Paul the Preacher - Pt 2As the Apostle Paul continues his talk in the synagogue at Antioch of Pisidia to both Jews and some Gentiles, he turns to the heart of his message—the resurrection of Christ—and how it was the fulfillment of prophetic promises in the Old Testament. In this episode we see that while his first teaching there was warmly received, his following week’s sermon stirred up opposition among antagonistic, non-believing Jews. The psalmist of Psalm 46 proclaims that “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble,” so His people need not fear even under the most catastrophic circumstances. This psalm contrasts the chaos and raging of the nations during the time of Tribulation judgment with the glorious hope of the Millennial Kingdom. Concluding with God’s command to “Be still, and know that I am God”—as He will be exalted among the nations—the psalm affirms that “The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge,” bringing comfort and peace to believers who trust in Him amid any trouble.
