Thank you so much to Diana and Mon - a mother and son interview. Mon is only 3 months into transitioning female to male. This is such a heartwarming interview that highlights love and acceptance. Mon shares insights into choosing a 'male' name as well as the lonely journey of transitioning. Diana shares her insights as a mother and how she managed her own feelings when Mon shared her decision to transition.
Roe is fortunate to be working in a very diverse and trans-friendly workplace. Having only transitioned three years ago, she shares her relationships with her children and previous partners as well as her experience transitioning in the workplace. There is also some discussion on politics.
Melissa Griffiths transitioned in the workplace in 2015 at a large organisation. Having known she felt 'different' most of her life, it was a sad family situation that made her realize life 'life was too short' and decided to live her FULL authentic self at 44 years of age. An activist for the trans-community, Melissa gives some great insights for how to transition at work as well as how managers and leaders in the workplace can support those who are transitioning in the workplace.
In this episode, Dr Dion interviews Reanna, a 58-year old transwoman, who shares her insights on family, dating, and the differences between men and women from her perspective. Biological men and women can learn something from her observations.
In this episode, Dr Dion Klein inteviews Shelli Kozberg, an Austin-based counselor who has worked with transgender people for 20 years. My dear friend Jenny Blake (Canberra) interviewed me as part of a personal quest back in 2014. It was about a 4 hour interview. This is the first 25 minutes. It doesn't go into anything really deep though it sets the stage ... my stage ... of where it all began.
Thank you for tuning in to Transgender Insights. I have been thinking about this for years; registered the domain name on the 22nd of May 2013. Six years later - better late than never, right? When I transitioned it was in the late 1990s and it wasn't 'trendy', as it is today. Someone said the term today was 'trans-trendy' - it is cool to be 'trans'. I wouldn't say it is 'cool'; it is different though, for those of us who transitioned late in life, we have a different perspective of the world of 'male' and 'female'.
In future episodes I hope to share not only my journey and perspectives; I want to share other stories from around the world in order to decrease the stigma and misconceptions of what people have about trans-people.
