TransMissions Podcast - Everything Transformers!

On this episode we're talkin' all the reveals from New York Comic Con 2026!

Beyond the ancient lift lies a world forgotten by history. Far beneath the cities, temples, and battlefields of the Harmonium, the crew begins exploring the colossal interior of Statera—an ancient Titan whose body has slumbered beneath the planet for millions of years. Vast halls stretch beyond the reach of their optics, abandoned maintenance chambers remain frozen in time, and impossible machinery stands silent, waiting for commands that will never come. Yet despite the ages, Statera is not entirely lifeless. Something still moves through the forgotten corridors. As the crew ventures deeper into the Titan's labyrinthine interior, they discover that the ancient depths have become home to creatures perfectly adapted to life beneath the world.

What is the Empire Of Rust Podcast?

TransMissions Podcast Network presents: the world's first and only Transformers RPG actual play podcast! Conceived, developed, and run by TransMissions Podcast producer and editor Michael Ordway (@minervion), this podcast combines the tabletop role playing game (RPG) experience (think Dungeons and Dragons) with the setting, universe, and characters of the Transformers into an actual play podcast. Each episode records the gaming sessions as the player characters experience the adventures planned and designed by the game master (GM). The RPG system being used is based on Starfinder, a sci-fi variant of Pathfinder, combined with elements of the Transformers-themed Mechamorphosis d20 system (more info here).

Empire of Rust takes place in the IDW Comics Transformers Universe that ran from 2005 to 2018. It is set at the beginning of the "First Strike" storyline that was published in 2017. But while the starting point is based on the events of the first issue of First Strike - where Earth is being inducted into the Cybertronian Council of Worlds - the story of Empire of Rust will be very different. So if you've read the comics, don't think you know what's going to happen!

The players have all created original Transformer characters to take part in this adventure, but they're sure to encounter some familiar faces in their adventures on Cybertron, and beyond.

Charles invites special guests Rod from The Black Guy Who Tips Podcast and Dpalm from the Unanimous Decision Podcast to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the original Transformers The Movie that premiered in 1986. We remember our earliest childhood memories with the film and how it introduced a generation of children to existential dread! Despite its cynical goal of selling more toys by killing off the old ones, this movie introduced many of us to the concept of real stakes in storytelling. And we love it! We also take a look at the new short Optimus Prime: Awakening and the final performance of the late, great Peter Cullen.

With General Libra's recommendations in hand, the crew departs Arris One aboard one of the Harmonium's ancient underground monorail lines. Once built to unite the world's great cities, the tunnels now serve as lifelines beneath a planet at war, carrying the team ever closer to Principle. But Principle is only the beginning. Beneath the bustling heart of the Harmonium lies an older world, sealed away beneath layers of history and forgotten engineering. There, hidden behind colossal vault doors and dormant machinery, the crew discovers an immense transport lift descending far below anything found on modern maps. Their journey is no longer toward another city. It's toward the foundations of a civilization...
