This week Jenny is back..!! And we unpack some of the issues around the world of sport and trans+ issues to reflect on some of the challenges, issues and opportunities that take place in the world of sport. As the conversation continues it possibly becomes apparent that they are both better at watching and opining about sport than actually taking part in it….!

This week, Gillian and Jenny muse on the subject of travelling, both in the UK and overseas and some of the risks and practical solutions for trans+ navigating the situations that travelling can throw up.
There are plenty of people with much more experience than us, but we chat through some aspects that are worth thinking about, especially for those where official documentation and the way we present may not match up.
Whatever happens, those of you considering a break, please all have a wonderful time and stay safe

This week, Gillian chats to Chay Brown (he/him), one of the driving forces behind the organisation Transactual which can be found at https://www.transactual.org.uk/.
Their conversation ranges across a range of topics and focuses mostly on the work of trans+ activism and the role of lobby and campaigning to help push forward the trans+ agenda.
Transactual have carried out extensive research around trans+ issues and act as a source of informed and evidence based information for those seeking clarity around trans+ issues.
In June 2020 they expanded our scope and remit to:
They encourage anyone that want to make ‘more of a stand’ to help support their work.
We are delighted to be part of their amazing work.

This week Gillian and Jenny discuss the concept of questioning your gender - how do you know if you are trans, or non-binary or whatever your gender might be...? And how do you decide what to do if you are not happy with the gender you have been assigned.
As always, they attempt to unpack the issues and focus on self-love and self-acceptance as a major part of how we care for and come to terms with whatever term we want to use about ourselves....

This week, Gillian and Jenny discuss the recent decision by the Labour Party to change their stance on self-ID and their overall approach to the Gender Recognition Act and trans+ people in general.
They discuss the potential implications of the change of policy as well as what options that leaves for gender care in the UK.
They do manage to finish on a somewhat positive note and aim to reassure everyone that transition is ultimately worth it - whatever the challenges in our path.

This week:
This week, Gillian and Jenny discuss the effect of humour on the trans world. Jenny talks about the difference between free speech and the links to ‘power’ and how free speech and hate speech can be affected by the direction of power
They discuss the rise of powerful people ‘punching down’ on marginalised communities and Jenny introduced Gillian to some comedians who ‘punch up’ and use their position in a positive way.
Whilst humour is completely subjective, it does help to discuss the issues maybe to help you understand the ‘other side of the argument’ so you can defend yourself and have a voice.

Jenny and Gillian discuss the thorny issue of voices….some thoughts on how voice links to identity but that it’s not just the pitch of the voice that matters but also resonance and volume. In this short discussion they touch on acceptance of any voice and the desire to have an appropriate voice.
They also touch on some issues of non-verbal communication and how that can be used to off-set and help with overall social comfort. They also issue each other a challenge - should they do it?

This week:
Jenny and Gillian reflect more on last week’s podcast where we talked to the parent of a trans child. They chat around the subject and difficulties as well as the nature parental support and rejection. Jenny then mentions her family trans relation and then they wander off into a series of unconnected ramblings and wittering the subject.
Recording this late on a Friday after a long week at work results in less structure and a lot more giggling - so apologies if this episode is a bit ‘random’….normal service will resume…!
Jenn also mentioned a couple of useful comedy 'rebuttals' - here are the links...
