This podcast features Eric Mancini, Traphagen's director of investment research and Tiera Mulligan, our portfolio operations specialist.
This is a discussion of the following:
1. Overview of the 'Trade War' through the past 2-3 years in terms of rhetoric, threats, and ultimate goals of the administration
2. Recent summary of actions and tariffs taken by the US and other countries. Traphagen's take on progress on all fronts (EU, Mexico, Canada, and China)
4. What market impacts we have seen to this point and our plan of action for portfolios
* Special Note: After recording, the US and EU did agree on a general proposal to move forward with a 'near free trade' agreement. This is an outline, with actual binding agreements to be finalized in the future; but there is no question this represents significant progress. Also, in response to Chinese tariffs on US soybean exports, the Trump announced a plan to 'subsidize' US farmers for more than $10B.
