Trauma Informed Care for All Spaces with Katie Kurtz

Listen Later

In this week’s episode, I was so happy to talk with Katie Kurtz about trauma-informed care. During this talk, we emphasize that being trauma-informed requires not just knowledge, but also active practice and integration of skills. We go into:

  • Katie's working definitions of trauma and trauma informed care
  • The difference between trauma awareness, trauma-informed care, and being trauma-responsive
  • Why we DON’T use the term “safe space”
  • And we look at the myth that trauma-informed care is a clinical approach reserved only for clinicians to use.
  • …and so much more!

Listeners can expect to gain a deeper understanding of trauma and the knowing that having your own lived experience is enough to be trauma-informed.
