ATOL protected.
I live in England. And we have adverts that come on for travel agents. And at the end of the advert, they always say ATOL protected.
ATOL is like the, body that makes sure everything is legal and that the public has rights. And at this present time, we have a situation which was brought on by Corvid where. Travel agents, travel companies, airlines are now refusing to pay customers back in cash and instead telling them, we're going to give you vouchers now.
I don't know. When you buy something and you pay cash with it and someone is trying to give you monopoly money back in its place, that's ridiculous. Now I was watching on the news, there was a couple that paid 1500 for their honeymoon. Couldn't go because of corvid and the travel restrictions, et cetera. There've been offered back vouchers someone else. 4,000 pound days spent exactly the same. There'll be offered vouchers.
Now let me ask you a question. How is the vouchers going to work? So I suppose after the outbreak and the pandemic has died down and everything else, you have your 1500 pound voucher and then say for example, you booked a holiday, which is a thousand. Are they going to pay you back the other 500 in cash or are they going to turn around and say, Oh, well, you've only spent that on the voucher, which is what most places normally do. The rest of it, you lose it.
What's going to happen? Because it doesn't make sense to me. If you're taking someone's money, then you need to give them back money.
Do you understand? Like for like now, according to what I've heard, how true it is, I don't know. But the governing body is turning around and saying that the customers should try to be, helpful during this time and accept the vouchers. No, that's nonsense. You paid cash, you need to give me back my cash because here's the thing.
A lot of families are now struggling where they don't have the money so they need it as cash. They can't take your vouchers and go to the shop and say, Oh, I've brought these vouchers from this travel company. Can I spend it in your shop? Cause that's not going to work. The governing body ATOL. Needs to step up. The government needs to step up and the travel companies need to stop their nonsense. How stupid do they think people are? Pay them back their money
True Dat.
