  • 110 - Flying Heads - Northville, NY

On this week’s episode, Harley and Brett are loading the van for a trip into the forest in Adirondack Park, in Northville, New York.
Brett is self-medicating with probiotics, and that is not the weirdest thing that is happening in this episode.
We are investigating the Flying Heads, a cannibalistic monster or spirit from Iroquois and Wyandot mythology. This legend breaks all of the rules, so don’t try to use your movie knowledge to get away from this show.
Northville, NY is just one of the towns that is associated with the Adirondack Park, and there is something for everyone here. Its 6 million acres is home to 105 villages and they never lock the gates. This place has an endless selection of breathtaking hiking trails, kayaking, canoeing, breweries, wineries and more.
Harley and Brett found another Travel Oddities first, a restaurant that you can float right up to. Float into the Sports Island Pub and Restaurant and have yourself a cheesesteak!
The Travel Oddities Top Five is playing shirts versus skins against NY and NY picked skins…

    Hey Odd Squad!
Due to a few ridiculous events and some even more ridiculous weather, we were unable to get our regularly scheduled episode out this week.
Please accept this rerun of one of our favorite episodes and we will get back on schedule this week.
    Thanks,

  • 109 - Lalaurie Mansion - New Orleans, LA

On this week’s episode, Harley and Brett are gearing up for Mardi Gras in the most unique city in America, New Orleans, Louisiana.
Harley is a year older and apparently the light is fading fast…you know, because he is 44.
We have a great interview with Lyn Gibson, aka The Twisted Southern Horror Queen about Madame Lalaurie and the Lalaurie Mansion. Madame Lalaurie might have been the sickest person alive at the time.
New Orleans is one of the world’s most fascinating cities – it’s home to a truly unique melting pot of cultures, and we explore some of the more unusual aspects.
We found a way to get a real behind-the-scenes look at New Orleans Mardi Gras at Mardi Gras World.
Harley and Brett never stop scouring a town until we find something awesome to eat…and we found the fat dude at BigCheezy at Henry’s uptown Bar. This place takes the grilled cheese to a whole new level.
The Travel Oddities Top Five is full of music and good times, just like New Orleans, LA.

  • 108 - The Haunted Bush House Inn - Index WA
On this week’s episode, Harley and Brett get “high” into the mountains to explore one of the most beautiful places in the US, Index, WA.
We discuss the The Haunted Bush House. This is not a reference to a haunted marijuana grow house and we do not believe that it is haunted by George W.
This oddity is spooky, but don’t let that sway you from this gorgeous wildlife mountains.
The views are breathtaking and the outdoorsy fun is dialed up to eleven, and we have a Travel Oddities first with the other activity.
No Episode of the Travel Oddities Podcast would be complete without a place to grab a bite, and we found the COOLEST place ever. Don’t miss this restaurant….Jesus is making the chicken!

  • 107 - Philmont Scout Ranch Gateway
The whole Travel Oddities team were out investigating this weekend, and although this episode is not a result of this week’s oddity, there are some eerie similarities.
On this episode we discuss the Philmont Scout Ranch Gateway in Cimarron, NM. This place is beyond description and you are going to be scared to hell…or at least the way inside.
This oddity is spooky but if you don’t have the heart for this level of scary. The Aztec Mill museum in the Cimarron Historic District, might be more to your liking. The collection includes Native American tools, weapons and pottery.
The top 5 might be offensive, but you probably wouldn’t understand it if it is.(I do not believe this is a proper sentence)
Harley has a great business idea, but we are not sure that it is going to fly with HR.
Amy shares a super scary story From The Archives.

Amy can never get enough cemetery action…

  • 106 - Haunted Green-Wood Cemetery
On this week’s episode, Brett and Amy get their subway passes out to explore one of the biggest tourist attractions during the last turn of the century and apparently one of the biggest spectral tourist attractions today.
Welcome to Brooklyn, NY and the Haunted Green-Wood Cemetery. With a population in the millions and annual deaths of about 50,000, you may wonder where do they go(literally and figuratively), and we have some answers.
This oddity is spooky, but don’t let that sway you from this … it’s part of the five bouroughs.
If you want to get a bird’s eye view of the area, may we suggest Deno’s Wonder Wheel? This iconic NYC Landmark is almost a hundred yeats old and has a PERFECT safety record.
Amy explains why she is too good to eat Katz’s Deli. You know, the 150 year old shining example of a classic Jewish deli?
If you are a pinball wizard, there may be some incriminating entries on this week’s TOP 5.

  • OS - Poe Museum
Join Brett and Amy for an Oddspot that Amy has been waiting for since….like 7 seconds ago. If you are on the edge of your seat waiting for another cryptid show, well then you are in for a…. longer wait.
This show is about Edgar Allen Poe and him being dead…again? Didn’t we cover this on an Odd Spot in October? Nope that was just a story. What about on episode 75? Nope that was about where Poe was buried. Try to keep up. This is an episode about where Poe lived until he died and not an episode about where Poe was after he died….totally different, and Amy is not obsessed with E.A.P.
Tucked away on the tiny street of Amity in Baltimore, MD is the one time home of Edgar Allen Poe. What stories did he write here? What secrets are held here? Listen to learn all that and more on this episode of the Travel Oddities Podcast.

  • 105 - Specters of Bear Creek Swamp - Prattville AL
Harley and Amy are traveling to swamp country, to soak in an oddity that has all the makings of a terrifying thrill ride. Welcome to Prattville, AL, home of the Specters of Bear Creek Swamp.
The phenomenon in this area go way back into the past and there is something for everybody. From ghosts to bigfoot and chupacabra to haunted dolls…this place really has it all.
There is definitley some weirdness in the swamps her, but Prattville is older than the state of Alabama and there are activities for any taste. This is a road trip that you have to make.
If you don’t want to trudge through the swamp, you could always take part in their annual 4th of July cardboard boat race.
The Travel Oddities Podcast restaurant pick is a place called Fat Boy’s BBQ Ranch because Amy’s diet has given her a one-=track-appetite.
The Top 5…Did you know that Alabama has a state biscuit? Do they have state gravy? Listen to the show already!

  • OS - Bash Bish Falls, MA
Join Brett and Amy as they plan on never going to Bash Bish Falls, MA. You know, because of the risk of falling off… of anything.
In the southwestern corner of Massachusetts Bash Bish Falls drops 80 feet from its summit to a shallow pool and a creek.
At the top of the falls, a view extends into New York State’s Taconic State Park.
In trying to attain this view, however, 25 people have died from slips while rock climbing or jumping into a seemingly deep but really shallow pool.
So, you know, an upbeat show.
