Welcome to the first episode of our new pivoted format. Pivoted as in we’re incorporating more non-related travel episodes into the format. And what better pivot than a cheesily titled episode like “Setting yourself up to win the day”. All cheese aside I am a true believer in your “Attitude determines your altitude” or “The attitude is very important. Because your behavior radiates how you feel”. Thank you Lou Ferrigno aka the Original Hulk.

This is the Pivot Episode -
According to Dictionary.com, the word pivot is…. To pivot is to turn or rotate, like a hinge. Or a basketball player pivoting back and forth on one foot to protect the ball. When you're not talking about a type of swiveling movement, you can use pivot to mean the one central thing that something depends upon.
If you’re a fan of the TV show Friends you might be familiar with the term Pivot - Think - (season 5, episode 16) The one with the cop., I had to look that up, I’m not that much of a Friends fanboy.
The word pivot has its own Friends definition - yes there is such a thing.
Friends Term: Pivot!
Definition: Something Ross screams when trying to move a couch up some stairs.
Today’s Term: It's the same, but it's something you scream when trying to find the right angle with your selfie stick.
Pre-2020 Pre-COVID pivot was a word I rarely used. This past year the word pivot has been used to describe how things in both my personal and business life have changed. I know I’ve used the word pivot in at least 6 podcast episodes.
Back to the definition - you can use pivot to mean the one central thing that something depends upon. So the central topic that this podcast depends on is Travel Stories. More specifically the word Travel. When it comes to Stories or adventures I have more of them than a bowl of Alphabits cereal. That’s a throwback to a 70s ad campaign.

As more and more of us are getting vaxxed, more and more of us are beginning to travel…..
For me, this is an indicator that things are returning to some sort of normal. Is it the old normal, or is this the new normal? You have to answer that for yourself.
As road warriors begin to gather in hotel bars, airport terminals, and restaurants our conversations will be dominated by all the changes over the past year, how some of us survived COVID, others avoided it while some of our friends and family sadly succumbed to it.
Eventually, the conversation will get around to discussing what’s it like to be traveling again and all of the travel tips and tricks we’ve forgotten over the last year.
Here would be my additions to any of those conversations.

Finishing up a 28-day 1400 mile road trip that has taken me from Florida to Georgia to North Carolina to Tennessee back to North Carolina with possibly one more night in Georgia before being back in my bed in Central Florida.
The CEO flew in a week ago and we’ve spent the last seven days on our Spring Break 2021 tour. The plan is to unpack, pun intended, the trip with her on an episode in the next few weeks.
Tonight’s episode is a repost from April 2019. It was recorded in the beautiful MGM Grand Las Vegas, NV. and the topic was planning for your summer road trip. I’ll be updating this episode in the coming weeks but this will be a good reference point to see how far we’ve come or regressed in the past 24 months.
