There is an old story about a traveller who was lost in the desert and was dying of thirst after he had walked for many miles across the Desert Mountains. He had no water and he was sure to die if he did not find water soon. In the distance, he noticed an abandoned cabin and he hoped to find some water there. Once he made it to the cabin, he discovered an old well. Then he noticed a tin can tied to the pump, with a note inside.
The note said: Dear stranger, This water pump is in working condition, but the pump needs to be primed in order for the water to come out. Under the white rock, i buried a jar of water away from the sun. There is enough water in the jar to prime the pump, but not if you drink any first. When you are finished, please fill the jar and put it back as you found it for the next stranger who comes this way.
Obedience is not measured by our ability to obey laws and principles, obedience is measured by our response to God's voice. It is so hard to believe because it is so hard to obey. Only he who believes is obedient, and only he who is obedient believes.
Obedience leads to true freedom. The more we obey revealed truth, the more we become liberated. It is difficult to press forward if we do not know how to obey. You cannot be a true man until you learn to obey. It is not hard to obey when we love the one whom we obey. Just like the story above, You cannot obey God without your obedience spilling out in a blessing to all those around you. Consequently, your disobedience could affect people adversely.
Join us in this expository as we unveil the dynamics of obedience, especially to our parents in the Lord.
