Federal Treasurer Jim Chalmers delivered his first Budget last night, telling Liam Bartlett on 6PR Mornings that his team deliberately set up a foundation to begin the hard yards of Budget repair, admitting electricity prices will soar, inflation will peak next year and wages are going nowhere.
But cheaper childcare and medicines will help the bottom dollar of most families, until renewable engineering translates to cheaper energy.
"We want to get more renewables into the system, we've got a war in Ukraine that's pushing prices above abroad and here," he said.
