Wonderful. This explains the higher stages of spiritual growth ...
Wonderful. This explains the higher stages of spiritual growth in detail, insofar as that is possible. Most practically, de Sales gives necessary warnings, cautions, and advice to grow further. For those of us searching for "more" because we've read Teresa and John and Ignatius and...well you get the idea...but still seek more detail, more clarity, because we are experiencing things that are alluded to in the others, but not helpfully clarified, St. Francis de Sales is your saint. God bless the man for writing it and thank you Lord!!! for the english translation in my century! On the other hand, if you are looking for a comforting, easy, read that lulls one into a state of feeling good about himself, this is not the book.

I bought this for a church study group, but I really can't get into it. Maybe because he is not my favorite saint. Time to join another group, I guess.
In Depth Study of the Love of God
This is a very comprehensive writing on the Love of God. "Masterful" is a proper description. For those inclined to seriously consider the love of God, St. Francis de Sales has given his deep insights. This book has always been considered a Spiritual Classic.
