The Age of the Judges begins. God raises up judges to rescue the Israelites when their waywardness reaps dire consequences. Men and women also, like Deborah, are chosen to lead. Judges 3:7-31; 4:1-24; 5:19-31,1-18. #everydaychristians

Joshua died before all the land God deeded to the Israelites was taken, so the tribes regroup, go in, and take their places. Judah first, then Joseph, Benjamin and others. Joshua calls the tribes together to remind them of their history and to exhort them to obey the Lord, particularly warning them about idolatry, before he dies. Hebron goes to Caleb, a reward for his faithfulness. Judah, and then Joseph get their allotments. The Israelites rest from war, but they are unable to take Jerusalem. Joshua 14:1-15;15:1-63. #everydaychristians

By God's hand, Joshua subdues the land from Kadesh Barnea to Gaza and from Goshen to Gibeon. Other Canaanite kings retaliate, and Joshua defeats them too. God tells them to allocate to the Israelites, even land not yet conquered. Joshua 10:29-43;11:1-21;12:1-24;13:1-33. #everydaychristians
