Today begins a twenty day trial of A Trekzone Commentary, featuring my Mum, sister Keeley and myself watching Deep Space Nine�s first season � for Keeley, it�s the first time she�s sat down to watch the season and for my Mum, she hasn�t seen it in well over a decade so it�s almost like a new experience all over again.

Today�s episode is the Deep Space Nine pilot � Emissary:

Following the withdrawal of the Cardassian occupational forces, the Bajoran Provisional Government invites Starfleet to administrate the former orbital ore processing facility � Terok Nor. Still traumatised by the events of Wolf 359 three years earlier, Commander Sisko and his son Jake begrudgingly move to the station where they discover all is not as it may seem�

American-based Naccarato had been thinking and dreaming about this production for almost a decade, before finally deciding to start up a campaign to raise the funds needed to make it a reality five months ago. The story he was hoping to tell was a huge arc spanning the major interstellar conflict between Earth and the mysterious Romulan Empire during the 2160�s.

Mark was successful with his Indegogo campaign and set to work making the fan film, with help from talented individuals like Samuel Cockings on CG and now Australia�s own Aaron Vanderkley providing some second unit photography!

On today�s episode I�m thrilled to be joined by Mark and Aaron to discuss this stretch goal of the campaign and learn a little about The Romulan War!

Who would�ve thought when I first brought Lee Sargent on the show back in February, that we�d be back two hundred plus days later talking about his two hundred and fiftieth sketch!

But that�s exactly what�s happened and I�m pleased to say Lee is back on Trekzone, joining me for the first recorded episode of A Trekzone Conversation. From drawing the original cast to Discovery, Kes, Janeway, Sisko, Picard and everything in between � Lee has transcended the boundaries of what�s possible and come up with two hundred and fifty different and unique drawings, capturing the very essence of Star Trek.

Lee joins me today to celebrate the milestone, talking about some of the tense moments as the clock slowly but surely counted to midnight as he frantically finished off a few drawings� but we also delve into the future of the Star Trek 365 project for the remainder of 2018 and also plug an upcoming series of collaborative episodes!

Sam Cockings is a self taught CGI artist, having worked on a dozen Star Trek fan films. Most recently, his work can be seen on Trekzone�s fan film Once More With Feeling. The visual effects have been the most praised aspect of the our Australian production.

Sam sits down for a chat about his work, what went into designing for OMWF and what�s next for Trekzone�

Five years ago I started a podcasting adventure that�s enabled me to meet some pretty amazing people. From Nana Visitor, Connor Trinneer, Ren� Auberjonois, David Nykl, Torri Higginson and Joe Flanigan to Doug Drexler, Larry Nemecek and so many more� one such person I�ve spoken a couple of times before is Rod Roddenberry, the son of Gene Roddenberry � Star Trek�s creator � and CEO of Roddenberry Entertainment.

Rod produced the documentary Trek Nation reflecting on the culture Star Trek has created, as well as forming the Roddenberry Dive Team and he�s now also incorporating philanthropic endeavours through the Roddenberry Foundation.
