  • Megasode 3.0: The Limb Episode

    Send us Fan Mail

Tori starts off the latest megasode with several movie references and the Old Joliet Prison. Yet another prison with deplorable conditions, ghosts, and movie scenes. Also, they buried limbs in the cemetery there. Krysti comes around with Pere Lachaise Cemetery in Paris. Add in a vampire, a battle site, a horny gravesite, and you want ghosts? Because that’s how you get ghosts. Chuck comes round with a Central American cryptid, the mysterious Aluxes, or the little people of Mexico. These Mayan legends have stuck around to this day. Malcolm brings us to Scotland and the Culloden Battlefield. The last stand of the Jacobites against the British Duke of Cumberlands troops. A series of poor tactical choices and being outgunned made this the site of an absolute massacre. There seems to be an echo of this battle that ripples through every year on the anniversary. Happy bday to Tori, she got the gamut of fun stories right up her alley for this episode.

Krys leads off with the tale of Versailles and it’s royal history. This palace is one of the most extravagant palaces on the face of the planet. Throughout the upheaval of the French Revolution this was a physical example of the divide between haves and have nots. Time slips, ghosts, and perhaps even the Queen herself visits from beyond the brave. Some of the furniture still there is some of the originals as well. You want ghosts? Tori picked another haunted castle, this time in the UK, Chillingham Castle. This 12th century monastery turned castle is one of the most haunted castles in the world. Being on the border between Scotland and England, this castle has actually seen battle. Add in some torture, executions, and other violent death, the sheer amount of ghosts is impressive. The castle is now an inn, would you want to to stay there with some of the previous denizens?

  • A Starbucks and a Tangent

    Send us Fan Mail

Tori leads off with Pike Place Market in Seattle. This is apparently one of the most haunted spots on the West Coast. The oldest continuously open market in the US, the sheer size of this market shocked Tori. This market has insane amounts of social implications as well. And ghosts, all the ghosts. Krys is back in Paris for a disturbing true crime tale. Marcel Petiot was a sick, sick man that killed all over France. This man was really, really good at suckering the cops as well. Add in some tangents, because we’re us and there’s this week’s episode!

  • Rumors of a Phantom and a New Definition of Petty Officers

    Send us Fan Mail

Krysti leads off with the Opera Garnier Paris and its illustrious history. This opera house spurred rumors of a phantom, has an underground lake, and is all sorts of fancy to boot. This historical building fields 400+ performances per year and was built to be a safe place for the elite to see performances without coming under attack. This was the opera house that spurred the Phantom of the Opera novel. Krys also covers the Rue de Chantres and its gruesome story. Tori goes back to her roots and covers, you guessed it, a cemetery.  Arlington National Cemetery in Fort Myer, VA has long been a draw when you visit Washington D.C. The history of this cemetery tells us that the owners of the grounds before it became the cemetery backed the wrong team. This cemetery has one of the most stringent requirements for burial out of all the national cemeteries. So. Many. Stories. And don't mess with petty quartermasters...

Tori covers the Tower of London and she regrets her life choices due to the sheer size of this story. A bunch of history, beheadings, and ghosts, this historic keep has seen it all. Also, there’s ravens, nine exactly. Krys covers the Hatfields and the McCoys and their epic family feud which has been ingrained on the American psyche!

Krysti starts us off with the story of Tippecanoe Place in South Bend, IN. This residence was built by the Studebakers and was one of the fanciest homes in the city at the time. Cue some poor money handling and the property was then sent through a series of owners till it's current iteration as a restaurant today. And what have we learned about old houses that have changed hands many times? You want ghosts…you know the rest. Tori tells a story she has been hinting about for months at this point, The Battle of Sharpsburg, otherwise known as Antietam. This was the single most bloody one day battle of the Civil War and opened the door for Lincoln to enact the Emancipation Proclamation. This battle was absolutely brutal and was technically a draw but it was the battle that sent Gen Robert E Lee hightailing it back down South. Needless to say, the land remembers and seems to make sure that we do too. And of course Tori had to mention the cemetery. Also, the Confederates learned the lesson of not leaving battle plans just lying around.

  • New Year, New Friend, and Lots of Civil War Soldiers

    Send us Fan Mail

Happy Season 3 lovies! We are back to you with more stories and some new voices! Matthew Barron visits us and hangs for an episode. Matthew is a local author and check out our Insta for a pic of his books! Tori goes first and tells of yet another cemetery, Metairie Cemetery in New Orleans. This cemetery had a prior incarnation as a horse racing track. This is one of the only places in the city that is actually high ground. Matthew tells us of the local legend and tv personality, Sammy Terry! This legendary horror host is the longest running horror host in the US. Those of us Gen X and younger have childhood memories of him but he continues to delight viewers to this day. We drop into the world of tropes and why antiheroes/monsters are what most of us identify/ sympathize with. Krys continues on smartly with the Barbee Hotel. Cue more gangster cameos from our fair state, this hotel had a long history with those who had shady business practices. And of course there is a murder, many ghost stories, and some unsolved crimes to round out this hotel. Tori finishes up with Locust Grove State Historical Site and White Oak Flats Cemetery  in Gatlinburg(that’s for you Alan).

  • Bertha and the Movie Curses

    Send us Fan Mail

Krys drives home the holiday spirit with another beastie that was used to scare children into behaving before Santa Claus was here. Gotta love the boogeymen that were used to keep people in line. Breakout the sage and costumes to get rid of the holiday boogeymen. The holdout for these mostly forgotten spooks are some of these festivals that stick around to this day. Tori comes with a bit of a different story this year and covers a broad topic, cursed movies. Leading off first we have Superman and it’s line of broken actors and assorted folks involved in the franchise over the years. Next up Poltergeist, I figured y’all were waiting for that. Add in some Apocalypse Now, The Omen, Rosemary’s Baby, The Crow, The Exorcist, The Passion of the Christ and as a bonus, Roar. Some fun random facts for you! Have some good holidays and we love you all!
