  • You May Not Be Getting Real Customer Feedback At This Time #991
Recently I have not been giving the kind of open and honest customer feedback that I would usually give, especially if it is negative.
I worry that a negative review from me might end up costing someone their job.
I guess that risk has always been there, but these days the consequences to the individual seem much more dire.
The good news is, this awareness is making me much more tolerant of customer service failures.
The bad news is, for the business, they are missing out on valuable feedback that would help them maintain or improve their customer experiences.

  • Will Wellness Flourish Or Flounder In The Face Of COVID-19? #990
Many in the Wellness world believe that the COVID-19 pandemic will create a window of opportunity.
Maybe now people will understand the importance of Wellness in their lives.
    Maybe.
But it is by no means guaranteed.
In a world threatened by illness, immediate treatment and prevention are desired.
The benefits of Wellness often take longer to materialise.
In desperate times, miracle cures usually are too good to be true. Science and Data is what's needed.
The Wellness industry has history of welcoming the unproven.
If we can stick to the facts and show the immediate values and benefits of Wellness, then yes, we can Flourish in the Face of COVID-19.
    If not, we may Flounder.

  • It’s OK To Adjust Your Timeframe For Success #989
Yesterday I spoke about how your definition of success might be the real reason you see yourself as failing.
Another contributing factor might be the timeframe you set for success.
Oftentimes we want things sooner rather than later.
It's no different when it comes to achieving success.
Far better to extend your target by a few years than to throw it all away and consider it a failure.
Chances are that 'overnight success' you look to for inspiration has been at it for a very long time.

  • Maybe Your Definition of Success Is The Real Problem #988
Fear of failure can be crippling.
Actually failing can be totally debilitating.
But sometimes the real problem lies in your definition of success.
That doesn't necessarily mean lowering your expectations.
But it might mean reassessing what really matters when it comes to achieving your success.
It's not just about setting realistic goals.
It's about achieving outcomes that matter.

  • Implications Of The Spa Industry Being Both Mature And Fragmented #987
The 4 Stages of a Business or Industry Lifecycle are Emergence - Growth - Maturity - Decline.
Somewhere between Maturity and Decline, it must find a way to reinvent, reinvigorate itself to find a new way forward and start a new curve. If it fails, then the end is inevitable.
The Spa Industry has Emerged and Grown. It is now at the Maturity stage.
However, it is missing one of the key characteristics of a Mature industry. Namely, Consolidation.
By and large, we are still a fragmented industry.
That should represent an opportunity for consolidation, which it does.
However, if the Industry is on the tail end of it's Maturity phase, as I would suggest it is, who is going to want to consolidate in a declining Industry?
    So what's the answer?
    Innovate, Tweak, Pivot, Reinvent.
The COVID 19 crisis has not caused the Spa Industry's issues. But it has revealed them.
Don't kid yourself that all will be ok if you can just survive this current COVID 19 downturn.
Now, more than ever, the Spa Industry needs to find a new Industry Curve.

  • You're Not Starting From Scratch - You're Starting From Experience #986
Many people around the world have or will find themselves out of work and out of a career as a result of this current global crisis.
They despair that this means they need to start again, from scratch.
But they are not starting from scratch.
They are starting with the benefit of all the experience they have accumulated over the course of their life.
The Work Experience and the Life Experience.
And THAT represents huge value to a future employer.
So if this is you, reconsider your perspective.
You may need to repackage yourself a bit, but do so and you just might find this next chapter of your life becomes the best one yet.

  • A Product-First Mindset Can Actually Put The Customer First #985
Don't focus on finding customers for your product...focus on finding products for your customers.
So says the great marketing genius that is Seth Godin.
It's a subtle, but important distinction.
And after all, isn't that really what marketing is all about anyway?
Creating products and services to meet the demands of a given customer.
But what we often do instead, is create our products and services and then go looking for customers.
Seth's way seems to make more sense.

  • Stay Relevant With An Annual Logo Remix Calendar #984
You've probably noticed that when there's a special occasion like Valentine's Day or St. Patrick's Day or Earth Day, Google mixes up their logo on the home page.
These logo remixes are a great way to help keep your logo fresh and relevant.
So why not go ahead and create a Logo Remix Calendar, with a new event every month, then when that day comes around...remix your logo.
Best to make sure the days or events that you're acknowledging are relevant to your brand and your business.

  • Right-Sizing - The Great Real Estate Re-Shuffle #983
Real Estate is undoubtedly going to be impacted by this current crisis.
But it may not all be negative.
The CEO of Zillow recently suggested that we will go through a 'right-sizing' in real estate.
Some will want bigger homes so they can have the family all together.
Others will want smaller homes to reduce their mortgage.
Still others will want to move out of the cities.
So with all that movement, I think will still be lots of opportunities in the world of real estate for a while yet.

  • Attention Is Transient...Yet Also Eternal #982
TikTok is getting some heat at the moment.
President Trump wants to ban it because it's owned by a Chinese company.
Microsoft has offered to buy it...at least in a few countries.
That's making many of those who've managed to gather a large audience on TikTok nervous.
They're worried that all of that attention that they've managed to gain will just disappear.
But attention doesn't disappear. It is transient, but it doesn't disappear.
You just need to find a way to communicate such that you are able to get their attention, wherever they may go.
The platforms will change, but the attention will still be there...somewhere.
