TRFE 167: From TV Reporter to Floral Designer: humble beginnings, gut instincts, and fear with Kalin Sheick

You hear a lot about the excitement of taking a business full-time. But what about the fears? You know, the leaving-a-steady-job part and telling your family that you’re leaving that job that you were so great at because your floral design business isn’t just a hobby anymore. What about that first year when you’re still working full-time as a TV news reporter and you’re also designing the flowers for 32 weddings and maintaining the 10-acre lavender farm you just moved to and your emotions are through the roof because you’re overwhelmed as hell and you also know you’re going to have to make a decision soon? Yeah, that. In this episode, we’re sitting down with Kalin Sheick to talk about all of it. Kalin is a floral designer in Northern Michigan who lives and hosts events at a small lavender farm she runs with her husband. When she's not flowering for weddings, she’s hosting a dinner party, leading a workshop and mentoring women who want to create businesses they love.
