The Age Of MAUL approaches!

With the epic image of the Lucasfilm logo being skewered by Maul's lightsaber, we have been blessed with a new trailer for MAUL – SHADOW LORD! We might be a week late, but with MAUL arriving in two weeks, our excitement for this new animated series remains off-the-charts!

We discuss this exciting trailer, especially how to make a character infamously known for his lack of growth and commitment to revenge compelling as a series protagonist. With new characters like Captain Brander Lawson (played by recent Oscar nominee Wagner Moura), and Jedi Padawan Devon Izara, Maul might have the contrasts needed to affect change (or chaos) to those around him.

BRANDON WAINERDI returns! The last time we talked to our friend Brandon, we discussed his interviewing method and experiences as the host of Talking Bay 94. Since then, we've been lucky to travel to some Lucasfilm events and we were able to connect with Brandon in person both stateside and abroad. When he's not taking us to Cafe Zoetrope in the Sentinel Building in San Francisco, Brandon is a veritable Star Wars author.

After starting his Star Wars authorship career with SW Insider, Brandon has grown from the magazine to books, as a co-author of the Star Wars Encyclopedia, and the author of the Star Wars Encyclopedia of Starfighters And Other Vehicles.

Mike joins us to discuss his latest Star Wars novel, OUTLAWS: LOW RED MOON, the prequel to the video game, Star Wars OUTLAWS. Don't fret if you haven't played the game! This novel stands on it's own and Mike discusses the process of making a book that reads two different ways and rewards readers with it's story, regardless of whether or not you played the game.

For some fans of (American) Football, the Super Bowl is a major event. For some others, it's a chance to watch some unique commercials and movie trailer. For many, it's all about the HALFTIME SHOW! Needless to say, we're not the biggest fans of Football (or sports for that matter), but this Super Bowl held a bigger promise for us: a Big Game Spot for THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU, and a Halftime Show featuring Puerto Rican megastar BAD BUNNY!

With THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU release date only 3 months away, and it being the first Star Wars theatrical release since 2019, it seems that the marketing blitz for this film is...bizarre? Despite the Tauntauns, the hype for this film is somewhat lacking and we discuss all of it!

In other Super Bowl news, after BAD BUNNY's show, the event is now called the BENITO BOWL. This performance was one of joy, love, and celebration of Puerto Rican and Latin culture, and as a Puerto Ricans this show was really transcendent and emotional. We discuss our reactions to this performance and the political connotations (and reactions) it presented. P FKN R!

Somehow, MAUL returned! After an announcement at Star Wars Celebration Japan (which featured a trailer), Lucasfilm has finally released the first Teaser Trailer for MAUL – SHADOW LORD! This is a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one, especially after the news of Kathleen Kennedy stepping down, and Dave and Lynwen's ascension.

Today we discuss this trailer, speculate on what might happen (and who might show up), and gush about the absolutely gorgeous art (Star Wars animation always knocks it out of the park!). This show features a new Twi'lek Jedi Padawan character called Devon Izara, who has had the whole fandom wondering if this is a canon iteration of the Sith Lady from the Expanded Universe, Darth Talon.

Set in the planet Janix, and starring Sam Witwer as Maul, Shadow Lord was created by Dave Filoni and developed by Dave and Matt Michnovetz with Brad Rau is supervising director. Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord premieres on Disney+ April 6, 2026.

Every reign comes to an end. After months of speculation, Lucasfilm has announced that Kathleen Kennedy will step down as President. Kathy has been President of Lucasfilm since the Disney acquisition of the company in 2012. Despite a fandom that at many times were hostile towards her, Kathy led Lucasfilm into a bright new era of Star Wars which saw so many animated shows, comics, books, live action series, and films which has expanded the mythos and helped the Galaxy reach a plethora of new fans.

In her "Exit Interview" with Deadline, Kathy discusses her storied career and discuss what has happened with many cancelled projects like Steve Soderbergh and Adam Driver's The Hunt For Ben Solo, James Mangold and Beau Willimon's Dawn of The Jedi and beyond.

As Kathy returns to producing (including the upcoming The Mandalorian And Grogu, and Starfighter), we salute her incredible career and wish her all the best in her future projects.

While one reign ends, another begins. Kathy steps down and (as rumored) Dave Filoni and Lynwen Brennan rise. Dave will serve as President and Chief Creative Officer and Lynwen will serve as Co-President. Everyone knows about Dave's role within Lucasfilm as apprentice to George Lucas, but Lynwen's role within Lucasfilm has been equally as impressive. Lynwen has been at Lucasfilm since 1999, beginning her tenure at Industrial Light & Magic where she become its leader in 2009. She was General Manager of Lucasfilm in 2015 and President & General Manager of Lucasfilm Business in 2024. Her leadership has been recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Visual Effects Society and the honor of Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.

With this new leadership, questions and concerns arise about what we can expect from what we've called colloquially "Phase 3" of Star Wars. Join us as we celebrate Kathy's career, toast to Dave and Lynwen's new roles, and speculate about what might be in store for Star Wars future!

The 2025 season of Star Wars has come to an end and we hope everyone had a great year and happy holidays with family and friends! Star Wars: Episode VII – THE FORCE AWAKENS celebrates it's 10th anniversary! It's been TEN YEARS since the Disney-era of Star Wars got kick-started with the Sequel Trilogy, giving us so many amazing new stories. It is only fitting that we revisit this special film that introduced us to new characters like Rey, Finn, Poe, and of course, Kylo Ren/Ben Solo. Does this film hold up ten years later? Was it a worthy way to honor the Original Trilogy and kick start this new era?

Today we reminisce on the time leading to this film and the joy and positivity the journey to The Force Awakens generated. We'll always be grateful for this film and time in Star Wars fandom for reigniting our love for this franchise and starting our towards TRIAD Of The FORCE!
