Trial by Pilot

We fire up the FTL Drive and jump back to 2004's Battlestar Galactica pilot! Our knowledgable guest convinces us to go back and watch the miniseries, talks a little about the 1978 series, and seems rather intrigued by the premise of an underwear-clad spaceship crew.

Holy moly! This week we discuss the pilot to 9-1-1: Lone Star, and I don't want to spoil anything, but the cold open is a security guard lighting his leftover burrito on fire and creating a raging inferno at the fertilizer factory that explodes like a nuclear bomb and kills everyone. Whoops, sorry.

We take a look at the pilot to the Netflix original The Politician, starring Ben Platt, ahead of the second season. Elizabeth interns for Conan, Bill talks about tone, and we consider watching 9-1-1 for a future episode.

We discuss the pilot to When They See Us, a 2019 Netflix miniseries based on the events of the 1989 Central Park jogger case and the Central Park Five. Please find anti-racism resources on our social media pages, educate yourself, and listen to black voices.

This week we discuss the pilot to Space Force, a new Netflix comedy starring that guy from The Daily Show. No, no, the other one. Oh yeah, we also talk about the second season of Dead to Me, Solar Opposites, and what's currently on our dining room table.

All aboard! We're discussing the pilot to Snowpiercer, a new TNT drama based on the 2014 film of the same name. We also chat about Jennifer Connelly's eyebrows and try to grab a piece of the Aggro Crag.

This week we discuss the pilot to The Great, a new Hulu hisdramedy series - and yes, we just made up the term hisdramedy - by the writer of The Favourite. We also talk a bit about I Am Not Okay With This which we actually finished! HUZZAH!

This week we discuss the pilot to Mrs. America, a historical drama on Hulu...or FX? Or both? We don't know! It tells the story of the movement to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment in the early 1970s, and the unexpected backlash led by conservative Phyllis Schlafly.

This week we stream a bunch of Netflix pilots, including Midnight Gospel, Brews Brothers, and I Am Not Okay With This. We also talk not-so-briefly about The Last Dance, a sports documentary about the '90s Chicago Bulls that will be coming to Netflix this summer. Man, Netflix produces a lot of content.

We travel to the strange world of Vagrant Queen, a new action comedy on SyFy that is lacking in both comedy and high quality action! STRAP IN!
