Here’s our first episode of the new show!

We have some big news this week: This is our last official Triathlonish episode. Next week, we’ll be launching a new format and merging with the If We Were Riding podcast. We’ll still have episodes here on this feed as we transition, so don’t worry (!), and we’ll still have Sid Talk segments.

But to wrap up our last Sid & Kelly episode we’re previewing all the big racing this weekend: PTO U.S. Open, World Tri Long-Distance World Champs, N. American 70.3 Champs. How do you pick?

Yes, there was some big news in the triathlon world yesterday. Sid & Kelly will talk about the doping bust, what the key questions are from here, and how people are responding.

But first: the good stuff in triathlon. A huge (and inspiring, motivating, warm-and-fuzzy) weekend of racing, from Ironman Texas to Peru 70.3 to Challenge Gran Canaria. We want to give them all a hug.

Sid & Kelly sat down for a “quick” episode to talk about training camp, the latest PTO developments and results from this past weekend, and preview the upcoming races this weekend: namely, the American regional champs at Ironman Texas. But then they talked for 50 minutes.

There were some sound issues this week. Kelly’s mic was too hot and Sid’s was too quiet, and this is what happens when everyone’s tired!

It’s a quick episode this week. Kelly & Sid talk Oceanside racing, what it means for the rest of the season, the broadcast and things we’d like to see. And how we plan to bond with Lionel over menopause and adopt Jason’s slapping himself strategy.

Sid & Kelly break down their predictions for the kickoff race of the U.S. season: Oceanside 70.3. And they review all the Southern Hemisphere race results from this past weekend: Gwen, Ashleigh, Max, Hayden.

And then Sid talks with triathlon superstar, Meredith Kessler, who just took 4th at her 9th Ironman New Zealand—her 72nd Iron-distance race. What keeps her going? They talk about coming back after baby #2, going for the win in your 40s, and what they've learned over the years.

Note: We also got some of the details of Comrades wrong. The famous massive ultramarathon goes between Durban and Pietermaritzburg in S. Africa.

Before our fun interview with world champion triathlete and producer & writer of the Netflix movie All Quiet on the Western Front, Sid and Kelly first dissect the last two weeks of races. Are we getting old? Can drones be used for broadcast coverage? And other important questions.

Then Sid takes over the mic to talk with Lesley Paterson about the process of becoming an Oscar and BAFTA winning producing, picking award season dresses, and what lessons she’s learned from triathlon.
