We often find ourselves longing for an articulated word—a spark of hope—that might suddenly shift our circumstances or provide a clear sense of purpose to which we can anchor our lives. 

In this service, the profound significance of a baby dedication serves as a reminder of our source of true, authentic hope, that long before we were ever formed in our mother’s womb, Yahweh knew us. Our original purpose and design were woven into us at that moment and we can always return to that source, where the blueprint of who we really are remains held and all our answers reside.

The word “faith” comes from the Hebrew word “Emuna,” which speaks of a firm action. When we embrace faith with this understanding, we are choosing to step past the boundaries of logic and into a Kingdom realm reality where trust (a covenantal agreement with the Lord) is actively woven into everything we do. You walk it, breathe it, embody it. This covenantal faith manifests in a firm action in every choice we make and every step we take.

Believing is a foundational element of trust. It is our covenantal agreement with the Lord that is the primary access point to the connection we were designed to have with Him. Believing is our only option—a declaration of being joined to Him, anchored through thick and thin, when it works out and when it doesn’t—because we know that everything is goodness with the Lord and ultimately, it all will end in hope and victory.

"Trust in God" is one of those phrases we toss around so easily—we say it to comfort ourselves and repeat it to friends when life gets difficult. But it can be a whole different story when we’re actually standing in that "impossible" space, waiting for a breakthrough that feels like it’s never coming. It’s in those moments that the true meaning of trust comes into focus. Trust is an active blend of belief, faith, and hope that we have to keep leaning into, even when we can’t see the answer yet. 

Like a beautiful plant springing forth from the ground, a butterfly emerging from its cocoon, or an oak tree standing strong after starting as a simple seed…growth is all around us. The grace of God is a powerful quickening agent that causes us to run - not walk - to Him. It is the spark that quickens our hearts to want Him more. As His sons and daughters, we are not meant to just have knowledge of grace, but to live our lives fully immersed and daily covered in the fullness of His grace. 

Many Believers often fall into the trap of viewing obedience as a transactional agreement, expecting that obeying the voice of the Lord will automatically produce a specific blessing.

When we think of obedience as a performance-based checklist, we miss the true desire of the Lord's heart, which is simply for us to walk in relationship with Him. Our calling is to keep Him as the absolute center point of our lives. By shifting our focus from what He can do for us to who He is within us, we discover that the answer to everything is found in His presence alone; for ultimately, Jesus is not just a means to an end, but the "One Thing" who serves as the purpose, the focus, and the very point of our existence.

There is no event in all of history that carries the eternal significance of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. It was the singular moment that restored us to our original intent: an unbroken, intimate unity with the Father. Because of this profound act of redemption, the cross stands as the final, absolute word over every struggle, brokenness, and need we encounter. It is not just a trivial milestone, but a living reality that remains entirely sufficient for every human need, every single day.

It’s bigger than you. It either continues with you or it starts with you, but what you do with what you have matters. Because, in the scheme of it all, you will only hold the baton for so long. What will you do with it while it’s in your hands? Will you accept or carry on the responsibility of being rooted and grounded in His love so that you may comprehend the width, length, depth, and height of it? Will you take His love and declare it to the next generation? Will you pass on the baton?

There’s something about the presence of the Lord, where we are freed from pretending that everything is perfect and be open and honest before Him. Just as exposure to the sun affects us, when we expose ourselves to His presence, even if we cannot yet feel it, we are being changed into an authentic expression of Christ.
