  • Goliath's Mystery
The sermon contrasts the biblical account of David defeating Goliath with the prophetic teachings in 1 Thessalonians to illustrate the believer's victory over death and spiritual oppression. It emphasizes that Christians are appointed to suffer tribulation rather than escape it, yet remain secure in the promise of Christ's return. The speaker warns against false doctrines and charismatic excesses, urging believers to stay sober and grounded in Scripture. By connecting the number five in David's stones to the reality of death, the message highlights how faith delivers God's people from the power of evil. Ultimately, the teaching encourages steadfast hope and comfort in the assurance that believers will be with the Lord forever.

  • 13 Daniel
Daniel 6:4-5 4 Then the commissioners and satraps began trying to find a ground of accusation against Daniel in regard to government affairs; but they could find no ground of accusation or evidence of corruption, inasmuch as he was faithful, and no negligence or corruption was to be found in him. 5 Then these men said, "We will not find any ground of accusation against this Daniel unless we find it against him with regard to the law of his God (NASB). The other two commissioners in their envy began a plot to remove Daniel from his position of esteem. Envy or jealousy are some of the traits of the apostle Paul cites as one of the fruits of the flesh, envy. Galatians 5:21 21Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told [you] in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God (KJV). Paul is saying that those that do these things will not be in the future Kingdom when Jesus sets it up after the Great Tribulation. This again is not to say that if a Christian sins he/she will lose their salvation. This is saying that a person who continually lives in this state is not a child of the Living God and therefore will not inherit God's future Kingdom Daniel who wanted to follow the Lord in everything he did was not going to exhibit any envy. Even though envy is clearly cited in Galatians chapter five the concept is called coveting in the Old Testament as Daniel was well aware. Exodus 20:17 17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour

  • Perseverance and the Promises
LHRBS #2273 Email address: [email protected] Mailing address: The Lighthouse, P.O. Box 1317, Baxley, Georgia 31515 Key points from the Lesson: Concludes a three part series focusing on the early New Testament church. The greatest zeal often comes at the beginning of a thing. Ecclesiastes 7:8 states that the end is better than the beginning. Zeal does not have to yield to disillusionment. Jesus has saved us from our sins and given us new life. We need to remember the first works. We need to remember the place of zeal from which we are fallen. We need to return to this place of zeal and remembrance of what the Lord has done for us. We need to remember the promises and proclaim them with zeal. Additional Passages: Ecclesiastes 7:8 Psalm 122:6-9 Isaiah 6:11-13 Isaiah 49:6 Acts 11:26 Ephesians 5:25-27 Revelation 2:5 Revelation 3:15-18

  • Who Shall Separate Us from the Love of Christ
Paul wants to make certain that the readers do not misunderstand. Just because God will give us freely all things and that all things come from His hand, does not mean that everything will be easy. When we suffer persecution or tribulation, it is being directed by God for our good even though the people doing it mean it for evil. It is still good for the people of God. He wrote that for the name of God, we are like sheep being slaughtered. There is a good purpose for it, but there is no promise that it will be pleasant. The sheep are for the sake of the owner of the sheep. In this case, for the glory of God to be seen and often God's work is most evidence in the response to difficult things. We need to be persuaded that nothing can separate us from God. That everything, things that we like and things that we don't like, are from the hand of God.
