Trilogy in Theory episodes

  • Ep. 201 - By the Sea (Revolutionary Road vs. Certified Copy)

On this episode we begin our second honeymoon phase after episode 200 with Andrew and Bernadette from The AB Film Review by taking an unfortunate trip to see BY THE SEA. Thankfully this film inspired a more interesting double feature with couples traveling through a marriage in REVOLUTIONARY ROAD where Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio plan to save their marriage by moving to Europe and in CERTIFIED COPY a couple who may or may not be married go through various stages of a relationship as they spend a day in Tuscany walking and talking.

  • Ep. 200 - Spotlight (All the President's Men vs. Shattered Glass)

On this episode we celebrate two hundred of these conversations by not only talking about the new film SPOTLIGHT with Jairo from the True Bromance Film Podcast, but also spotlighting some of our favorite shows and friends we’ve made on this podcasting journey. Big thanks to all of those podcasters for participating and an even bigger thanks to our guest Shannon Strucci of Strucci Movies for watching a double feature for this episode on journalists covering cover-ups in ALL THE PRESIDENT’S MEN and SHATTERED GLASS.

  • Ep. 199 - All Things Must Pass: The Rise and Fall of Tower Records (American Hustle vs. The Wolf of Wall Street)

On this episode we celebrate the rise and fall of capitalist ventures. Starting with the documentary from Colin Hanks on The Rise and Fall of Tower Records, ALL THINGS MUST PASS. This loosely inspired a look back at the con artists from AMERICAN HUSTLE who find themselves involved with too big of a con and Leonardo DiCaprio playing a man who can’t get big enough in THE WOLF OF WALL STREET.

  • Ep. 198 - The Gift (Carrie vs. Heathers)

On this episode we celebrate the kickoff of the Christmas shopping season by giving our listeners the gift of a late review of the summer hit THE GIFT. This inspires a conversation on the gifts of the bullied with CARRIE and HEATHERS being our double feature of choice. Make sure to stick around until the end of the show for a bonus segment with our expert on all things young and virile, as the younger Dan from A Tale of Two Dans provides insight on these two films from the millenial generation.

  • Ep. 196 - Creed (Rocky 2 vs. Rocky 3)

On this episode we train for the new film CREED by talking with guest Peter from Hydrate Level Four and War Machine vs. War Horse featured player Tangible Teddy about two prior Apollo Creed stories in ROCKY 2 and ROCKY 3. As you will hear in that conversation, we're no experts on the Rocky mythology but Ryan Coogler’s take on the series has made new fans.

  • Ep. 195 - The Stanford Prison Experiment (The Box vs. Experimenter)

On this episode we bring in two extremely smart guys to talk about brainy films. First off, regular guest Dave from the podcast Pop Culture Case Study talks about the new to DVD STANFORD PRISON EXPERIMENT, and then we continue our little podcast experiment with Dwight from The Broken Brain podcast on Richard Kelly’s THE BOX and a relatively new film to VOD starring Peter Sarsgaard in EXPERIMENTER.

  • Ep. 194 - Room (Flowers in the Attic vs. Panic Room)

On this episode we get trapped in a small room with guest Daniel from the movie site A Tale of Two Dans. Thankfully we are also joined by the likes of Victoria Tennant OR Heather Graham in FLOWERS IN THE ATTIC and Jodie Foster in PANIC ROOM. But first, we talk about a great performance by Brie Larson in the new release ROOM.

  • Ep. 192 - Spectre (Dr. No vs. Thunderball)

On this episode we recruit Karly of Core Temp Arts and Dave from the Pop Culture Case Study podcast to track down SPECTRE, the new James Bond film from Sam Mendes that brings back that villainous organization, by looking at previous appearances of this gentleman's club in DR. NO and THUNDERBALL.

Also special appearance by fellow Following Films podcast Cinematic For The People!
