Ray of Light is arguably the most important album of pop megastar Madonna’s career. Her ‘comeback’ album from 1998, it was a huge critical and commercial success. But, with a 67 minute runtime, is it a little too long?

That’s the question TTMF hosts Stephen & Paul ask themselves as they attempt to curate a single vinyl, under 50 minute version of the album.

Are they attempting to do this themselves? Of course not! The guys were delighted to be joined by Marissa and Caroline from top Scots pop duo - The Eves.

Look out for Paul’s impromptu ‘unplugged’ versions of Madonna classics; a discussion on sexism in the music industry; thoughts on Madonna now; archive interview clips; the Eves sharing what it feels like to hear their songs on the radio and to support Belinda Carlisle; and all the usual regular features you know & love.

We covered Oasis’ third album ‘Be Here Now’ last year, so we thought it was time to take a look at the band’s superior second album -  ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory’. The band’s biggest selling album and home to ‘Wonderwall’ & ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’. 

Hosts Stephen & Paul, along with friend Bryan Borthwick and Oasis super fan Paul Young (no, not that one!), listen back to the album and its singles B-sides, to critique & create what they believe is the best under 50 minute, single vinyl cut of the album. There will be some surprising omissions. There will be lots of praise for the quality of the band’s b-sides. There will be many complaints that 50 minutes is not long enough! Def Leppard’s ‘Hysteria’ album (1987) was a monster success: +20M sales; a transatlantic #1; seven hit singles, including a US #1 (Love Bites); two American Music Awards; and one of the biggest selling albums in US chart history. The success did come at a cost though, with car crashes, lost band members, ill health & creative differences playing their part in the story. And the album took 3 years to record, and was allegedly the most expensive ever recorded up to that point. It is the longest album in the Def Leppard canon (62 minutes). 

Join hosts Stephen & Paul, plus guest Bryan Borthwick, as they revisit ‘Hysteria’ and attempt to ‘improve it’ by reducing the running time to less than 50 minutes. How? By discussing, agreeing & removing the 3 tracks they regard as weakest on it. There will also be time to critique each song; critique the album as a whole; provide interesting info related to the album and its year of release; reminisce about seeing the band perform the entire album live in 2018; and discuss the album’s legacy. 

It’s the album that was made to be the rock version of Michael Jackson’s Thriller. It‘s the album that contain’s Animal, Pour Some Sugar On Me, Armageddon It and many more! So… “Do you wanna get rocked…”

HIDDEN PRIME CUTS POD: Radiohead’s OK Computer is one of the greatest albums of all time. The B-sides to its singles were also great. And guess what? On its 20th anniversary reissue, OK Computer OKNOTOK 1997 2017, the unreleased tracks were great too. Perhaps the pick of the bunch was Man of War. So here’s an episode to critique it! 

 Interesting fact: This could have been the theme song to the 2015 James Bond movie Spectre.
