In this address, Dr David Allen shows us how the Authorised (King James) Version is the most faithful English Bible as it is based on the Hebrew Masoretic Text and the Greek Received Text, which are the authentic, preserved biblical texts. He teaches that the doctrines of divine inspiration, purity, preservation, and the warning against altering Scripture require Christians to reject textual changes found in many modern Bible translations. Dr Allen contrasts the Antiochian manuscript tradition (the Received Text), with the Alexandrian manuscript tradition (the Critical Text), which is less reliable and has influenced most modern translations since the nineteenth century. He then gives examples to show that translations such as the NIV and ESV omit or alter verses and wording in ways that weaken key doctrines, particularly the deity of Christ, the atonement, and the authority of Scripture. The conclusion: Christians should uphold the Authorised (King James) Version and the traditional biblical texts as the most accurate and trustworthy representation of God's preserved Word.
