The final chapter of Romans contains a lengthy list of names of believers who are greeted in writing by the apostle Paul. Pastor Brett looks closer at what believers today can take away from this nearly 2,000 year old list.
The final chapter of Romans opens with a lengthy list of names of believers. While it may seem like a section of Scripture that doesn't apply to believers today, it acts as a reminder of how church members are supposed to treat each other.
Paul lays out his plans to visit the church in Rome on his way to spread the Gospel all the way to Spain. But first, the apostle needs to deliver financial aid to Christians in Jerusalem.
In this evening sermon, Pastor Brett looks deeper into why signs and wonders are not something we should expect today, but they were a mark of authentic Christian leaders in the early church.
After more than 14 chapters hitting core doctrines and extolling how to live in a Christian community, Paul gives the Roman church a bit of insight into his thinking of not only them, but his own life. The emphasis? On serving the Lord through whatever way we are called.
Paul finishes his lengthy section on unity in the Church with a bookend that matches how the apostle opened chapter 14.
We dig deeper into the opening verses of chapter 15, as Paul continues the call for unity in Christ.
While the chapter number changes, the theme of Paul's writing to the Roman church does not. He continues to expound on why it is important for Christians to be unified in Christ, regardless of positions on issues that don't hold sway on salvation.
As we wrap up the 14th chapter of Romans, Pastor Brett opts to take a different tact, letting the passage speak for itself. Note: audio from the videos has been edited out from this episode. Just use your imagination to see a skyscraper construction and later the demolition of an old multi-story tower.
We continue our study in Romans, as Paul lays out a rule for believers when it comes to their personal convictions.
