When Daniel cried out to God in distress, God answered with a vision providing a prophetic overview of history, from Daniel's day to the End of Days. God showed the prophet that He is sovereign over it all, and that even through the trials and afflictions, He is working out His purposes for ultimate redemption and glory.

Don't be alarmed or deceived by false-teaching that claims that the 2nd Coming of Jesus has already happened. Paul is crystal clear that Christ's coming will be visible, bodily, and unmistakable (1 Thessalonians 4). In our text today (2 Thessalonians 2:1-12), he is clear about what must happen before Christ returns. The storm-winds of rebellion against Christ have been mounting since His crucifixion. They foreshadow a greater hurricane of rebellion that is yet to come. Stand firm. Our God is a mighty fortress. That Word above all earthly powers abides, and is our sure foundation.
