In Matthew 21:28-32, Jesus told a simple parable in order to communicate the significance of doing the will of God. What is it to do the will of God? And why is it so important? In this guest sermon, Ed Rowett (Trinity Church York) considers this subject.

In this short sermon series we are considering what the Bible teaches when it comes to the subject of mercy. If mercy is all about relieving misery, what does the Bible have in view with misery? What is it? Why do we experience it? And how are we delivered from it?

One of the more prominent themes in the Bible is the theme of “mercy.” In Luke 6:36 Jesus instructed his followers to “Be merciful as your Father is merciful.” In this short sermon series we will be considering what is meant by mercy in the Bible, beginning with God.

At the end of Matthew 4 we’re given a summary of what Jesus did in the three years prior to his death. In this sermon we consider what he preached, what he called people to, and how he restored broken lives.

Matthew tells us that soon after his baptism Jesus was led into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. We can easily treat this passage as a blueprint for how we are to face temptation, but in this sermon we consider why it is actually far more significant than that.
