That feeling that you know too well, the feeling that something is missing. What do we do with it? And how will our desire for a wholeness in life be truly satisfied? In Revelation 21 we are given a vision of the future home for the Christian, where our longings for home will be finally met.

Often we can find ourselves lacking a sense of belonging as we go through life. God’s design for the church is that it be a place of belonging, where those inside the community know they belong and those outside are invited in. How does such a community come into existence? And how do we remain faithful to the design? The Apostle Paul wrote a letter to the church in Ephesus to lay out God’s design for the church. In this sermon we look at what Ephesians 2:11-22 teaches us about this.

It’s difficult to overestimate the significance of the Holy Spirit’s role throughout history and in our lives. On a personal level, the Bible teaches us that there is a new birth that we each need to experience if we are to know God. In John 3, Jesus makes it clear that it is the Holy Spirit who brings about this new birth.

In the Bible we see Jesus Christ’s journey from heaven to earth as he takes on human flesh and suffers and dies for our sins. We also see him gloriously exalted, beginning with his resurrection from the dead. In this sermon we consider the Apostle Paul’s teaching on the resurrection from 1 Corinthians 15.

Why did Jesus die? In this episode we look at the significance of Jesus’ role as our priest, from Hebrews 5:1 and 10:1-25.

The centre of the Christian faith is Jesus Christ, and so if we want to understand what it means to be a Christian, we need to ask the question: who is Jesus? The Gospel of Matthew in the New Testament is an early biography of Jesus Christ, and Matthew invites us readers to ask this very question. In today’s passage, Matthew 1:18-25, we consider what Jesus’ names reveal about his identity and what his birth teaches us about how God works.

In the book of Job in the Old Testament, Job wrestles with why it is that he has suffered. After several rounds of back-and-two with his friends, he refuses to accept their explanation that he has suffered because he has sinned. He declares his innocence and demands that God provide an explanation. In chapters 38-42, God does answer Job, and in this week’s sermon we consider what God’s response teaches us about God, about us, and about our relationship with God.
