John 10:1-21 // Jesus is the Good Shepherd who cares for us so much that he willingly dies for us. We follow Jesus because he far surpasses any other alternative.

John 9:1-41 // Jesus came to turn our world upside down. The blind will see, and those who see become blind.

John 8:1-59 // Jesus shows our need for a savior, and He offers us life. "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." - Jesus

John 7:1-52 // Drink from any other well and you will always thirst. Only Jesus, the fountain of living water, will leave us satisfied.

The goal of Jesus is not to make our lives happy and healthy, but holy and eternal. If our eyes are fixated on God's immediate provision, we can completely miss his eternal one.

It's sometimes tempting to filter Jesus, emphasizing the things we like about him, and minimizing the things we don't like. However, Jesus unfiltered is by far more beautiful and powerful than we can ever dream or imagine.

Jesus boldly declares he is the eternal Son of God who is in very nature God in flesh, yet his accusers are looking for opportunities to incriminate and discredit his testimony. When we hear the proclamation of the Gospel, we must also weigh the evidence and decide.

Miraculous signs and wonders should lead us to faith in Jesus; however, we see in today's passage (John 4:43-5:15) that's not always the case. Jesus is the One and Only, the Word of God who was with God in the beginning, the unique Son of God sent to rescue us, the Savior of the world. Everything Jesus did in his life and ministry is designed with one purpose in mind: so we will know Jesus and believe in him.

What we can learn from John 4, is that Grace can come in unexpected times and places. The woman at the well received much more than she could have imagined when she met Jesus that day. He offers us a permanent solution to our greatest needs.

In John 3, we learn that every single person needs new birth, and that is what Jesus Christ offers to us. He came to rescue us and give us the new life we need.
