Is pride a good thing or a bad thing? We tell our employees to take pride in their work. We tell our students to take pride in your school. What about when it comes to our faith life? What does living a spiritual-smart life have to say about pride?

Smart living doesn't mean easy living. While learning to live a Spirit-led, Spirit-smart life will certainly improve the quality of our relationships, it will not guarantee a life without challenges. Nor will it allow us to skate by on our merits. We must continue to work on our faith. 

We continue our series in Proverbs by focusing on where we put our trust for our decision-making. On the path to learning to live smart, God himself guides us by the wisdom embodied in his word.

This week, as we launch our series, we learn from Proverbs 1 where to start if we desire to acquire this "Spirit-led" wisdom, which will lead us in our ability to make the best decisions. 

A man comes to Jesus and asks to become his disciple, he just needs to bury his father first.  Jesus responds, "Let the dead bury the dead."  Is Jesus being cold-hearted or raising the bar on discipleship or something else?  Join us this Sunday as we talk about the importance of tone when we talk about the words of Jesus.

Did Jesus really ask us to hate our mothers and fathers? What in the world could he possibly mean by this?! We know that these teachings from Jesus are Radical, but is this seems to go too far.

This week, we’ll be unpacking Jesus words on anger from Matthew 5. “You have heard it said do not murder…but I say do not be angry with a brother or sister” (Matthew 5:21-22). Is He being serious or just using hyperbole!? 

Forgiveness—we like receiving it, but often we are not as generous in giving it out to others.  In this week's passage, Matthew 6:14-15, Jesus says that unless we show forgiveness to others, God won't forgive us.  Can this possibly be true?  Join us this Sunday as we talk about what forgiveness is, how it works, and why it's crucial for us to give it to others.
