We are recalling the story of David. He has been chosen to be the next king and is led to a cave where he is joined by "mighty men." God doesn't bring David the king of people we would think. This story gives us some good insights into the history of God's people, but it also sheds some light on how God works to accomplish his purposes, throughout scripture, and even today.

We all have great plans and aspirations, but many of them fall short, or lose steam. What separates those that come to fruition from others? A plan. We learn from Nehemiah that if you have big dreams that you need to start small, and have an idea of what it takes to get from A to B.

It can be hard to know what to do in the heat of the moment. Trying circumstances push us to our limits, and you wonder, what do I do? Nehemiah sets an example of how a leader could respond to difficult situations in a godly way. Nehemiah shows us that mission is something that you can't stand not to solve.

As we celebrate the kids who were part of VBS we will hear a story of 3 people who's worship of God cost them, but their obedience to God not only saved their lives, but it set an example that changed all those around them.

Each of us has been given a unique set of gifts and experiences that allow us to serve in a way unlike anyone else God has ever made, how will you use those unique gifts to share God with others?

Mission is not something that happens over there, but starts right in our own homes. On Father’s Day we will look at Dad’s scriptural call to be a missionary everywhere you go, and with everything that you do.

Mission is more than talk, it is meeting deep needs of others. Mission needs to move. God’s call to mission engages the whole person, and bring holistic change to others, it meets the needs of the body and soul.

Why are we called to mission? Because God's light does not shine everywhere. We are called to GO and serve beyond ourselves.
