Abraham listened to the voice of God, even when it didn't make human sense. And God blessed Him. God still speaks today. Are you living by God's voice?

"This is my beloved Son. Listen to Him." We really want to see Jesus, but the Father calls us to listen to Him. To listen to what He has to say. And Jesus tells us to share what we have seen and heard. Luther once said, if you want to see Jesus, "stecke deine augen in deine ohren." If you want to see Jesus, stick your eyes in your ears. Through hearing, you see Jesus.

• 2 Kings 2:1–12

We have a God Who created the universe, parted the Red Sea, closed the mouths of lions, healed the sick, and raised the dead. He has infinite power. And, at the same time, you have a God care cares deeply about you. He is an intimate God.

• Isaiah 40:21–31

Who found whom first? Jesus or Philip? Jesus or you? Setting up these as mutually exclusive keeps us from the greatest blessings of the both/and. And when you find out that you have been found, Jesus calls you to "Follow me." Are you following Jesus?

Mercy and Grace - 2 sides of the same coin. Mercy is God not giving us what we deserve. And we deserve eternal death and separation from God. Thanks be to God that He has had mercy on His people!

God has made many, many promises to His people. Over 7,000. As God's people, we must know His promises in order to be comforted in the hard times. And we must share His promises to our families and our communities!

As people, we change. Sometimes for the better. Sometimes for the worse. But even in the midst of our change, God stays the same. As we enter the new year, there will be changes in our lives. But we have a God who is the same yesterday, today, and forever!
