Revelation 4 begins a new section and a new vision.  The opening scene (chapters 4 & 5) invites John into the great throne room where he sees things as they really are.  The Lord is worthy of all worship, glory, honor, and praise.

We often say, "We need...", but too often that doesn't end with "...Jesus."

To a church in a city unsettled on the fault lines of the earth, the Lord Jesus offers a city whose foundation will never shift - a hope for an everlasting city, the City of God, the New Jerusalem.

No commendation for the Church at Sardis.  The only think louder than Jesus' rebuke is his call to "Wake up!"

In contrast to the Church at Ephesus, the Church at Thyatira had grown in love, faith, service and patient endurance, but had become tolerant to false teaching and sin in the ranks.  The call is to "Repent!" and the encouragement is to "Hold fast!"

We return to our study of the Revelation with the church at Pergamum with opposition from within - the compromise of the church...

As we take a couple of weeks break from our study of Revelation for our annual picnic and mission's conference, this morning we turned our attention to true contentment and that it only comes in the Lord Jesus.  The treasures of this world can only offer what leads to a desire for more, but Christ truly satisfies.

Christ acknowledges and encourages the church in the midst of suffering.

Jesus' first of seven letters to the church in The Revelation commends the church for its work and orthodoxy but rebukes it for her lack of love - for Jesus and for those who need Him.
