But today, we see Jesus say something so radical, so controversial, that many of the people who followed him, left. What did Jesus say and how can we find encouragement and joy in these seemingly strange words? "

Some Christian faiths teach that one has to "accept" Jesus to be saved. The emphasis is placed on the person doing the accepting. But is that really what Jesus teaches? Do we even have the power to "accept" Jesus or is the decision his alone to make?

It is a familiar story -- one with many life lessons. The story of Jesus coming to the disciples, walking on the water, conjures up mental images of the disciples struggling, Peter sinking, and Jesus lifting him up. In Mark's account, the focus is on their fear and Jesus' encouragement. Today, we ask the question, "Where in your life do you feel you're sinking and what encouragement do you hear Jesus speaking to you?"
