1. It is instituted by Jesus (Matt 26:26-28; 1 Cor 11:23; 10:21)
2. It is a sign and seal (Matt 26:26-28; 1 Cor 11:24-26; Rom 4:11)
3. It is to be observed in the Church (Matt 26:20; 1 Cor 11:17ff)
4. It is to be observed until Jesus returns (1 Cor 11:24-26)
II. What does the Lord Supper do?
1. Jesus promised benefits for true believers (1 Cor 11:24-25; 10:16)
2. It provides spiritual nourishment when taken by faith (Matt 26:26; 1 Cor 11:24-25)
3. It should produce gratitude in us (Matt 26:30; 1 Cor 10:21; Rom 2:4)
4. It reminds us of our communion with Jesus through the Holy Spirit (1 Cor 10:16)
5. It reminds us of the unity we have with other Christians (1 Cor 10:16-17; 12:12-13)
