Ephesians 2:17-18

1. There Is Peace For All, All Without Distinction, (Verse 17).

2. This Peace Grants Access To The Father In One Spirit, (Verse 18).

1. Realizing that your faith will be strengthened when you abound in spiritual thoughts upon spiritual objects.

2. Realizing that your hope will be fuller when you abound in spiritual thoughts upon spiritual objects.

3. Realizing that you will be prepared for suffering when you abound in spiritual thoughts upon spiritual objects.

4. Realizing that you will be kept from fixing your mind on the things here below when you abound in spiritual thoughts upon spiritual objects.

As it is the law of nature, that in general a proportion of time, by God's appointment, be set apart for the worship of God, so by his Word, in a positive moral, and perpetual commandment, binding all men, in all ages, he has particularly appointed one day in seven for a sabbath to be kept holy unto him,28 which from the beginning of the world to the resurrection of Christ was the last day of the week, and from the resurrection of Christ was changed into the first day of the week, which is called the Lord's Day:29 and is to be continued to the end of the world as the Christian Sabbath, the observation of the last day of the week being abolished.

Ecclesiastes 5:8-20

THE VANITY OF MATERIAL RICHES.

1. POLITICAL OPPRESSORS ABUSE POWER FOR MATERIAL RICHES (v.8-9)

2. THE FOLLY OF MATERIAL RICHES (V.10-12)

i) Material riches cannot bring lasting satisfaction (v.10)

ii) Material riches will complicate your life (v.11)

iii) Material riches may cost you sleep (v.12)

3. THE UNCERTAINTY OF MATERIAL RICHES (v.13-17)

i) You cannot keep it (v.13)

ii) Material riches can easily be lost (v.14)

iii) You cannot take it with you (V.15)

iv) The Application (v.16-17)

4. ONLY GOD CAN GIVE ENJOYMENT OF GIFTS (v.18-20)

i) Accept your lot (v.18)

ii) Accept your gift (v.19)

iii) Enjoy life (V.20)

Ephesians 2:14-16

14 For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility 15 by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, 16 and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility.

1. He has broken down the wall of hostility between Jew and Gentile (verse 14).

2. By abolishing the law of commandments (verse 15).

3. He reconciles both Jew and Gentile to God (verse 16).

1. Observe the special providential circumstances that you face and apply your mind unto thoughts about them.

2. Observe the special trials and temptations that you face and apply your mind unto thoughts about them.

3. Observe all things in religion, both in faith and practice and apply your mind unto thoughts about them.

Neither prayer nor any other part of religious worship, is now under the gospel, tied unto, or made more acceptable by any place in which it is performed, or towards which it is directed; but God is to be worshipped everywhere in spirit and in truth;23 as in private families24 daily,25 and in secret each one by himself;26 so more solemnly in the public assemblies, which are not carelessly nor wilfully to be neglected or forsaken, when God by his word or providence calls thereunto.27

Ecclesiastes 5:1-7

​1  Guard your steps when you go to the house of God. To draw near to listen is better than to offer the sacrifice of fools, for they do not know that they are doing evil. 2  Be not rash with your mouth, nor let your heart be hasty to utter a word before God, for God is in heaven and you are on earth.
