Do you ever feel like your therapist or other mental health professionals don’t quite understand the pressures of your high-stakes career? Like no matter what you try, you’re the square peg being forced into a round hole? You’re not alone. The demands of entrepreneurship and fast-paced, high-pressure work environments create a unique set of mental health needs, but traditional mental healthcare systems often fall short in addressing them.
Dr. Jay has experienced this firsthand in his own mental health journey and heard the same from friends and clients he’s coached. That's why, in this episode, he’s brought in psychologist Dr. Janna Koretz, who specializes in supporting busy professionals who want to maintain their mental well-being without sacrificing their careers. Together, they explore where conventional therapy often misses the mark for these individuals, the myth of perfection, purpose vs happiness, career enmeshment, and much more.
Dr. Janna Koretz is a licensed psychologist who specializes in entrepreneur mental health, focusing on key areas such as co-founder struggles, impostor syndrome, communication skills, burnout, decision-making under stress, and effective leadership. With years of clinical training as a psychologist and the unique perspective gained from her own entrepreneurial journey, Dr. Koretz connects with entrepreneurs on a deeper level. She provides the nuance, rigor, and evidence-based practices necessary to help them navigate their most significant challenges. She is also the founder of Azimuth Psychological, where she and her team focus on the unique challenges of those in high-pressure careers.

Leadership can sometimes feel like a lost art in today’s fast-paced business world. Misaligned incentives, widespread burnout, and the growing divide caused by technological and generational shifts are just a few of the challenges making it difficult to lead effectively—or to find the right leader to follow.
This topic is close to Dr. Jay’s heart, so for this week’s episode, he’s invited a true leadership expert, Dr. Roger Gerard. With a career marked by exceptional leadership, Dr. Gerard has authored multiple books and coached some of today’s top business leaders.
In their conversation, Dr. Gerard discusses his latest book, Own the Room, and they explore a range of topics, including why standardization can become a constraint, what the real job of a leader is, whether incentives actually work, steps to building a great culture, and much more.
