In this episode, my friend Ashley Hendricks shares about her grand tour of Europe. The main focus of this trip was to follow in her grandfather's footsteps, tracing his journey as an American GI during WWII. They also visited Paris and Edinburgh, with some Harry Potter and Outlander-related sight seeing along the way!
Continuing with the "Travel Nightmares" theme, in Part II, Curtis interviews Stephen Williams (1:55), who was gassed in a passenger train while traveling in Poland. Seriously! Then, Meghan Martin (10:55) joins to share about her journey to Antarctica. Despite having a blast with the penguins, her ship broke down while surrounded by towering icebergs!
Travel nightmares! Even the best planned trips can turn sour in an instant. Rhonda chats with Curtis about the time a snake appeared in the shower of her catamaran (seriously!), and Liz shares how her race to the Vienna airport got derailed due to a train worker's strike in Hungary.
A former coworker & friend, Diana Rosenberger, joins Curtis to discuss her new life in Shanghai, China. Six months into a three year stay in China, Diana shares how she got locked out of the country while returning to the States during Chinese New Year. She shares about culture shock, living under a communist government, the must visit places in China, and advice for those that might want to try living somewhere else.
Liz joins Curtis to discuss Portugal, which includes stops in Lisbon, the university town of Coimbra (which gives off a Hogwarts vibe!) and Évora. If an amazing culinary scene, Roman ruins, and wine are your jam, you need to check out Portugal!
